Howdy from Central Texas!
Howdy!
I recently picked up my first S2k, it's a 2000 in New Formula Red. I've loved these cars ever since I learned about them. In fact I remember the first time I saw one, I didn't know what it was. I was in a mall parking lot waiting to pick up my girlfriend from work, and a silver one drove by me. I didn't know what I was looking at and instantly fell in love. Life has had its ups and downs since then, but I'm lucky enough to be in a situation now where I was able to buy one of my "attainable dream cars".
It's been quite an upgrade from the Miata that I was driving before. It's everything I loved about the MX-5, but more. I can see why they have developed such a following! My car is not without its issues as one would expect for any 14 year old car, but I'm fortunate. My car came with a lifetime of service history! The engine was replaced with a new one in 2003 at a Honda dealership, the clutch has also been replaced, several recalls have been performed, the tires are not very old, and the maintenance has been performed regularly and recorded! I have to diagnose and fix a few clunks here and there. I'm going to do the axle nut TSB fix on it, but I'm concerned the wheel bearings might be toast as it is, we'll see after the fix. The car also has an Apexi WS2 exhaust on it, but I think the person who installed it did a pretty poor job, so I'm going to get that addressed too. Those issues notwithstanding, I'm in love. I'm in that honeymoon phase where I occasionally just go into the garage and stare at it, can't quite believe it's mine.
I have already been trying to absorb as much knowledge as I can from the forums, and look forward to spending lots of time learning working on it and keeping it performing and looking as good as I can.

Austin is in fact where I am. I have checked the regional forums a bit, but I would love any info about meet ups!
