I've been looking around lately to buy a car as well (not a question of if, but when and what one) and have also been shopping insurance rates. Obviously, the older the car (2000), the cheaper the insurance will be. For me on a 2001 (20, 3.5 GPA, no accidents / infractions, full coverage with mid-level policy coverage) it is $238.54 a month through progressive.

A lot of people use State Farm or Allstate (one or the other, can't remember) on here. Another option to look at is USAA (if you are eligible).

Insurance Varies Dramatically by where you live. For instance, the same policy I'll be getting in the Atlanta area is $105 cheaper than it is in the Houston area (where my parents live.)

Honestly, I'd call your agent and get a quote. It varies for each individual. Due to driving record, age, gender, marital status etc... I'm not sure what my insurance is for the S becuase it is on a plan with some other cars as well.

The S2000 is listed on my policy as my third car with less than 5k miles/year yet I pay almost double for it compared to my C55. I am 28 and have a perfect record.

well mine is actually cheaper to insure than a 2007 civic si coupe for some reason. I'm 21 with a minor blemish on my record.....I think the civic si quote I received was 30 more per month than the s2k.

As for your question concerning if we recommend it.....well look at the demographic you're asking.

In my situation, it is not cheap considering both the Integra and C55 add up to almost the same amount per year as the S2k alone.

You should definitely call your insurance company and others to get comparison quotes.
