Just took my new '05 out of storage!
Bought my Silverstone/Black '05 with 20k mi in January in Chicago, the put it in storage right away. Just got it out last weekend, did an oil change, washed and waxed it, and took some photos. Oh yeah, I also drove around a bit!

Thanks to everyone for already asking all the questions I had -- 'search' was my friend. This car is awesome! The rear has stepped out on me a couple of times, but it's always been easy to control, and I love the way it pulls from 3k revs. Torque almost feels similar to my DSM, but without the lag, way smoother, and oh yeah that top end kick.

The motor rocks, the gearbox is sweet, but there's nothing better than the handling. You can't cheat physics--a balanced, light, FR car wins any day!
For the record, here's a shot of my other car:

'93 Eagle Talon TSi AWD 5-speed. Stock except for KYB struts and full 3" Thermal exhaust (installed after photo taken). I'm keeping it as my winter DD. Funny to think that my new car has a much smaller interior and less storage space! Ha. I'll miss throwing my bike in the back of the hatchback.

Congrats on getting it out of the garage! I'll be doing the same very shortly & i can't wait.! TYM2FLY- Good call on changing your oil before you store it...i made the mistake of storing it unchanged...oh well @ least i know for next year and i'll be ready to go!
Thanks for the welcome!
unique,
How do you like your RX-8? I was obsessed with them for a year or so, but I was concerned about the mileage, and I then started obsessing over the only other small, light, RWD car around (other than the MX-5), the S2000.

Had originally planned on getting the S, but family leaned towards a 4 seater.
It came down to the STi, and RX-8.
I most likely will sell the 8 once a newly designed S is released.
Every time I see the S, it makes me smile.
Ian,
Alaska, wow! I thought a convertible in the midwest was crazy, ha. It was actually in the 30s when I took those pictures, but I was able to cruise around top down anyway. All cars should have the "top down mode" on the HVAC, I love the indirect heat!
Unique,
I actually think the RX-8 is more fun around town to a certain extent because it has a little more body lean, so it communicates better at, say, 4 tenths. The S, on the other hand, doesn't roll at all, and it just laughs at most turns, until you get going fast enough for the chassis to really take a set, and start communicating.
