Default Long time MR2 Owner looking to get some AP(X) love.

Been owning MR2s for a long while. However, they aren't getting any newer... I've owned NAs that have been ragged out and only had 80hp, to my old turbo which had just shy of 320 to the wheels. Brother has an AP1, I'm really considering an AP2 in black. Prefer the 2004-2005 without the drive by wire (always feels like a laggy videogame to me)

Welcome to S2ki! Have you driven a 06+ Ap2? I thought the same thing about DBW.... until I bought my CR(08). I now own an 05 Ap2 aswell and Honestly, I feel like the CR(DBW) responds better than my 05 cable throttle. Let us know how it goes

I'm considering the purchase of an MR2...either a God-awful-yellow '01
or a beautiful silver '05.

Can ya give me any tips from your experiences?
The '01 is very strong..the only thing I dont like is the suspension
could greatly be improved.
The '05 is very strong as well...they both are in the 65K mile range..
they are both a lot of fun..I like the power..while I would like
the 180HP engine(which I've seen at MonkeyWrench)my initial mods
would just be sways..Eibach pro-kits..body braces...and upper strut tie.

Of course I would lose quite a bit of my "pimpness" if I let my S go..
but then..prolly not! lol

Never owned a MK3, however I've been exposed to them greatly.

I would get an '03+ just for the sake of the body changes (lights, vents, etc) and put in the 2ZZ-GE 180hp motor you're referring to. However, keep in mind, it'll be just like the S2000. Sort of a dog until Lift kicks in and when it finally does, you're speeding. Also, stay away from the SMG garbage.

These are what I kept (my turbo a couple of days before I sold her):
