The long wait is almost over
 

I am Ronnie and after a long wait of 6 years, the moment is almost there. Just waiting 3 more weeks for the start of the Brussels Car show and then I am going to order a 2006 S2000. It has taken so long because family conditions were not suited up to know. Even now, I can imagine that my wife will need to drive the car on occasion, so that's why I am happy with the VSA. :)
I am hoping for an additional rebate at the car show. I now have a 7% reduction,
looking at $43.000. And because our lawmakes are so inventive when it comes to taxes, we also have to pay a one time tax of $6000 for high power cars. :mad:
We will keep the 2.0 engine over here in Europe, revving to 9.000.
Hoping to have the wheels in March, Moon rock with black interior.

Yeah, the taxes can be ridiculous over there. When I was in Denmark, they told me that the sales tax on a new car was 180%. So if you pay 10K for a car, you pay 18K in tax for a grand total of 28K. WTF. If someone tried to propose something like that here in the US, they'd be voted out of office immediately.

180 % in Denmark? Wow, that is really ridiculous. In Belgium we pay 21 % tax on a new car. Anyway, it is a pity the S2000 costs so much more over here. And because the Honda badge does not have the same 'prestige' as say BMW in the eyes of many, the S2000 is a rarity our roads. Many more Z4's, but not so many 3.0, so no match for the S.

Just an update. Model 06 ordered. Arriving at the dealer's before the end of the month. A quick question : the VIN on my 06 is JHMAP11306S200136, so does this mean it is no longer manufactured in Tochigi ? I read on old threads there was a T instead of the S denoting Tochigi factory.

Yes, all new S2000s are built at the Suzuka facility. As I recall, the NSX, Insight, and S2000 production were all moved from Tochigi to Suzuka in the middle of 2004.

Holy smoke, car already arrived at the dealer's. Still packed and will remain so until I will pick it up. Planned for Thursday when insurance coverage is in order; be patient - be patient. :crazy:

$50,000 for S2000 is hard for us to believe, if it costs the same over here then we would see very few S2000's around. What you are paying is about 50% more than us. :eek3:

Tell me about it! And then we Belgians are among the lucky ones in Europe. The Dutch pay even more :D as do most other citizens of Europe.
But just suppose 1 euro = 1 dollar, then the price is about the same, before taxes.
Anyway, all other cars are proportionaly more expensive also, so from that point of view, the S is still a bargain compared to the competition.
