Looking at buying an s2000
Hi Everyone
I have just started looking at buying an s2000 .
I have had quite a few roadsters and 2 seaters.....mr2 roadster,3.0 z3,z4,lotus elan, elise etc do any of these compare in any way??
I drive 90% motorway then a few twisty roads to work each day.
I know honda's are reliable but is there any thing to look out for when buying and running and how is mpg? any other info would be great.
cheers Rob UK

surprisingly, i never actually calculated out the range of a tank nor the miles per gallon on this car, i've done it on all my other cars, sometimes by accident, i bet i only get about 20 mpg, too much lead footing...
Maybe 25-26 MPG combined, 28 easy highway.
As far as the Z3 and Z4, they never felt like sports cars, they feel like a small 5 series to me, very nice, but not sports cars. The Z4 is nicer to me on the highway than the S.
The downside compared to those cars is the seats may feel small in the S and the door is higher, so when driving it isn't that comfortable to put your elbow on the top if the door.
I'm too poor to help you with the Lotus issues. Those are for rich folks.
The S2000 is great if it is comfy enough for you.

Z4 is a great all around car, and those engines are bulletproof if you take car of them.
Like the above poster said comfort is not one of the s2000's strong points, it does feel like a race car of sorts. I've driven both the Z4 and the s2k, I'd say the one thing that made all the difference to me was the fact it is sooooo much more fun to drive, it feels raw and exciting.
I never got that feeling from driving the z4, although I would suspect that the z would be a hell of alot easier to drive for extended periods of time. If I were you I'd test drive both of them again.
The MPG isn't great if you really enjoy driving, it gets hard trying to keep high mpg because the car just screams at high rpm's, it just makes you want more.
If I had to choose all over again, I would have still bought the s, and i'm still loving every minute of it, until I need to get out cause it's a PITA!
