Take negcamber's advice!

If you pay $300 a month for insurance you must have a really bad driving record! I pay about $120 a month on an 02 s2000 and an 01 satrun thanks to the "Michigan No Fault Law". No stupid law suits = cheaper insurance!

I've always wanted an S2k, but as a college student that's almost done, I'm glad that I didn't get one. It'd have been so much money.

It's stupid to buy one yourself now. Patience.

[QUOTE=steven975,Jul 8 2006, 12:29 PM] actually, being upside-down on a car loan for a used car over 2 years old is not the norm.

Insurance, maintenance, tires, interest from your loan, gas, possible vandalism, possible problems with the car...

No. You can't afford it.

Not to mention that if you find out you can afford it ($10/hr? Come on, man) you're going to be working to own your car. Have you ever seen the movie Fight Club? Might be the car that owns you.

It's going to be hard hanging onto this car once school starts for you. The insurance alone would kill you. Don't be one of those students delivering pizza at night to pay for a car. Stick with the beater you have now and learn to manage your money. Eventually, you'll be financially stable enough to afford it.
