Hello,

I new here but not to forums. I just sold my 2002 911 to start my hunt for an air cooled 911, probably anywhere from 1980-1989. I have a 2012 GTI as my daily. But I love to do a few DEs each summer, so I'm thinking about a S2000 vs. a 1980s 911.

I'm happy to search various topics to learn about common problems, upgrades, price points, differences between the 1st and 2nd generation, etc. I just need to know key words to search, so if anyone can help me, that would be great.

I'll have around $15k to spend, but would prefer to get in for less. The S2000 doesn't need to be perfect cosmetically, but it will need service records. Plus what specific questions should I be asking sellers?

Thanks. I'll check out the Ohio site. There are a couple that peak my interest within 500 miles. I don't mind flying one way and driving back. Still trying to learn a lot before making a decision. Is the consensus here to get a PPI? If the car is far away, I would also ask that someone from this forum that lives near it go check it out which would give me some more piece of mind on condition.
