I also had a BMW a few years ago, not an M3, but a '97 328is (was as fast as an M3 w/ the mods I had).
I too left the BMW because of all the little problems that constantly came up! What issues did you have w/ your M3?

The main problem that made me decide to switch was the transmission. In my 2003 BMW M3 I had the SMG Gear Box. However I only had 79,000 miles on it when the hydraulic pump which shifts the SMG Gear Box decided to fail. That fix alone cost me $3,500.00.

That basically was the straw that broke the camel's back. Also the general maintenance cost on BMW's is just greater than any other sports car that I've ever owned. I know it's a BMW, but man, oil changes should not have to cost upwards of $100.00.

I know I'm a little bias as well because I've owned mostly Japanese cars and that BMW was my 2nd. However I just couldn't continue paying that type of money for small things like that.

Also came over from an M3...e36. Same reason...the car just started having lots of issues after the warranty ran out. Finally the motor blew a ring at 70k miles. I've had the s2k for 8yrs now and still love it.

Thanks for the warm reception.

I think with the right modifications, the S2000 has the potential to be more fun than the M3.

^^^^ I don’t think the s2k needs any modifications to be more “fun" than an M3.
That’s not saying the M3 isn’t a great car, it is.

Welcome and congrats on your new purchase.

sweet rides, i love M3s, my buddy beats the piss out of his E46 night and day and at 100k miles hes had 2 rears, the subframe tsb, tps sensor malfunction, and a whole list of other problems... it is also SMG altho the clutch is slipping.

But then again the motor has seen countless 170+mph freeway runs over the years, constantly revving at 8k or so id say they are as reliable as the S2k, just BMW racks up the price and that stupid computer having to always be reset with their tool for every little god damn thing.
