Mij's NFR UK (Lot of pics)
Hi to the S2KI community!
I will shortly introduce myself. I'm Jim from France and I bought my S2000 MY2006 NFR in UK in February 2014.
My previous car (I'm keeping it) is a Smart Roadster Bluewave from 2003, the engine is a 3 in line (699 cm3 displacement) located on the rear axle. I got it in September 2010. It's a very rare model (less than 600 sold worldwide including the Coupe version) which was release to tease customers for the Roadster Brabus version.

This car is a ton of fun at legal speed, 0.95 g on the skid-pad and amazing braking distance (100-0 = 34 m or 60-0 = 112 ft) with the brabus wheels and tires. But it's slow in the straight, only 82 HP and about 800 kg (1780 pounds).
I never planed to track it because Brabus pieces are too expensive to replace. Speed is too limited, and for track days i prefer a manual Gearbox and a car easy to work on.
I grow up with Gran Turismo (i was 10 years old when the first was released), and i have been a die hard fan of the Honda NSX since this game. Then came the Honda S2000, an affordable and cheaper version of what have been developed for the NSX, fully convertible with a 9000 rpm NA engine. I didn't need more to be hooked at 12 years old. Now I'm 27, it's time to have fun with it!
I will present my S2K through some pictures, and what's going on regarding the mods I'm adding to it.
I was unable to find what i was looking for in the others country of the EU, that's why i went for a UK S2000 because i wanted a totally stock 2006+ NFR without VSA, 38K miles and only one previous owner!
Pictures from the First day of ownership:

The very first thing i did on the car back to France, was to polish the front and rear lights. They were a bit clouded by humidity. Now, they are all crystal looking, like new.
One week before i bought the car, i was looking for a Berlina Black Hardtop (Black hardtop keep the S2000 profile lower than a NFR one). Two weeks after i bought the car, it was still available. The owner of the hardtop only bought it to protect his S2000 while waiting for his soft top to be replaced. The Hardtop have been purchased new at a Honda dealer in 2010, and only been used for 6 months and then store in his garage. Long story short: this thing is new! I have been lucky on this deal. I just needed to order the right defroster wiring for my car and the installation was complete.
Then, I replaced the stock leather wrapped worn gear-knob by the gear-knob of the Honda Civic FD2 Type R. It's the same gear-knob as the one in the S2000 CR with red lettering but sitting 8 mm higher. Far better handling than the stock one. At the same time, car have been fitted with a Mugen baffle oil pan and a Spoon air filter V2 mounted in the stock air-box. I also replaced the 2 front fender assy, 2 front strakes and all the rusted bolt of the front fender. All of those were worn and i want the car to look like a new one.
Hardtop fitted:

Time to get new rims. My plan is to track the car, so i spent a lot of time to find a light weight rim, available in Mat Black (this colour handle better brake dusting between washes), factory sized with a close-to-factory offset. I ended up with a set of OZ Alleggerita fitted with Dunlop SportMaxx RT.
- Front: 7x17 5x114.3 Offset 49 215/45/R17 = 13 kg (28 lb) OEM ENKEI rims + OEM Bridgestone RE050 = 16 kg (35.5 lb)
- Rear: 8.5x17 5x114.3 Offset 59 245/40/R17 = 14.5 kg (31 lb) OEM ENKEI rims + OEM Bridgestone RE050 = 19 kg (41 lb)
This setup shaved 15 KG (33 lb) of unsprung weight off my car. Pretty satisfied with the result. Just to inform potential buyers, Dunlop SportMaxx RT are slightly oversized regarding the diameter, resulting in an odometer which now has GPS speed precision. Previously my odometer was underestimating the speed by 6 kph (3.7 mph) versus GPS speed.
Some Pictures with the wheels on:

I installed the latest version (koyo released this radiator in November 2013) of the Koyo radiator for the S2000 with the 1.3 bar Koyo radiator cap (oem is 1.1 bar).
It's thinnest than the previous Koyo one: 36mm vs 53mm, but thicker than the OEM Denso: 36 mm vs 15 mm. The install is a straight swap. I added the OEM foam sealant to have a clean install. Engine cooling is so stable now. Awesome product.
Original floor mats were worn to death, so i decided to get a set of Honda Access premium Floor mats in red for RHD S2K. Easy install for the hardware, and fresh new look. Ordered at the same time a set of Clazzio seat cover, black leather centre with red stitching, to protect my seat during track days.
Here is the result, picture is crappy:

The S2000 isn't aggressive enough in stock form for my taste. But I wanted to stick to the OEM look while just adding a sport touch. I ended up with the factory body kit: AP2 front lip, side strakes and Trunk spoiler, ordered from HardtopGuy. The Honda wing spoiler was too much for me. A bit of works, but everything fitted perfectly, and paint is a perfect match. As you can expect from OEM parts.
Pictures with the front Lip and trunk spoiler only:

Finally, side strakes added:

Already ordered:
- JPM Coachworks shift boot, black with red stitching
- Integra Type R DC5 OEM Momo Steering wheel, part number is 78501-S6M-R71ZB (Only two new remaining in the US, according to an Acura dealership)
Next mods:
- Front and Rear shocks with springs of the S2000 CR
- Front and Rear sway bars of the S2000 CR
- Spoon rigid collar kit
- Dixcel FCR front plain and rear plain disk with R01 front and rear pads (only if i find a way to order this setup)
- Goodridge braided brake hoses with Motul RBF 600
- S2000 Black Battery Tray and Shorai Battery Package, 10.5 kg saved (23 lb) from OEM setup
- Mugen AP1 Exhaust manifold header / Sard catalyzer AP1 / Mugen sports exhaust system AP2 V2 (only if i got the confirmation that those parts will
fit my car because in Europe, only F20C were available in all MY 1999-09 s2000)
- Maybe i will finish the Mugen engine mods: Mugen ECU, Mugen Airbox, Mugen thermostat, Mugen valve springs and Mugen fan switch. But I'm not sure at all for the moment.
I would thank all of S2KI members. Reading tons and tons of threads on S2KI made me finally bought my S with a mind free of questions not answered. Plus all the information i needed to buy stuff to improve my car appearance and handling. The S2000 is rare in France (something like 600 sold as new during the 10 years of selling time) and finding stuff and informations isn't an easy task here.
Feel free to comment and to constructively criticise what i have done to the car during the last 7 months, and what will be done to it in the future.
Best regards.
