The Mike Newbie thread
The girl friend and I are finally owners of a 2006 Laguna Blue Honda S2000!

Little bit about myself: I am a new home owner with my girl friend, we are about to start fostering dog(s) and maybe adopt one. This AP2 is our first "baby". We currently have a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt and a 1999 Honda Civic Ex which has been my autocross vehicle for 4 years. The S is the autocross replacement

Check out my YouTube channel where I like to post video's of snowboarding and autocross. I just got Sony Vegas 11 so I am enjoying using that much better than Windows Movie Maker Live.

The car has only 59,705 kilometers (36,708 miles), a clean car fax, and only one previous owner. I purchased it from Capitol Eurocars in Tallahassee Florida, it's a BMW dealership and I found their ad on Cars.com. The previous owner, a 60 year old Florida State University professor, traded it in for a new BMW 3 series coupe. This car has lived in Florida it's whole life until I purchased it and imported it into Canada.
Yes I am Canadian and I did have some reservations about purchasing a car from the USA, however Keith Milliron made the transaction very easy and smooth. I would recommend him to anyone and would love to do business with him again. Took 46 days from the date of purchase to the time I had the car in my garage. I had some trouble finding a transporter to ship the car to North Dakota, from there I picked it up and drove the car back home. Doing the exporting and importing process is very easy and I would recommend everyone to do it. Saved me about $7000.00 taxes included after the car is plated and legal. Why didn't I fly down and pick up the car? I would of been subjected to a non-refundable non-transferable Florida Sales Tax which is almost the same price as a car shipper.

Because I purchased this car without test driving it or even inspecting it myself I had big plans to address any gremlins that car might of came with. First thing I noticed was that there was a gap on the front passenger side fender where it meets the front passenger door. Looking underneath you can see here the reason is because of some improper jacking. The pinch welds are bent and I am in the process of getting that address. Will report back later with my results and of course pictures.

I also noticed some orange peel and over spray on one rim. Closer inspection of the front bumper revealed a previous fix to the lower passenger side of the bumper. I check all the body panels and yes I found all ten VIN stickers to be matching. I can live with this.

Now it was time to lift the car up and start changing all the fluids. I have read the oil journal thread, yes all of it, and decided on Amsoil products. Why? I found that Amsoil was a product no one ever hated or gave a bad review to. So used Amsoil Signature Series 5W-30 engine oil, Amsoil Synchromesh Manual Transmission fluid, and Amsoil Serve Gear Lube 75W-90. I work in the emergency medical field so I used a 20oz/60mL syringe to fill the transmission and differential. Worked perfect. I chose ATE Super Blue for my brake and clutch fluid. Used OEM Honda Blue coolant.

I checked the serpentine belt for wear. It looks perfect. I looked at the serpentine belt tensioner and it looks good as well. I believe the interval is 100,000 miles.
***

Changed the cabin air filter as well, not to shabby for 7 years.
***
Changed spark plugs with OEM NGK's and performed a compression test.
Cylinder 1 210psi
Cylinder 2 220psi
Cylinder 3 215psi
Cylinder 4 220psi

The vehicle came with Falken Ziex 912 tread depth readings are 5/32 rear tires and 6/32 front tires. I like to autocross, not competitively but more for fun, and am planning on getting a set of 225/45/17 and 255/40/17 Dunlop Direzza ZII's in the next month. I come from FWD so I plan to just learn how to control and race RWD before I throw any modifications at it. I want to stay in B-Stock.
Also going to try my hand at Plastidip and will be dipping my OEM AP2v2 rims white. Will post pictures when they are done.
Question: This car came with VSA and I have read some reviews about how VSA is bad and some say it is good. My question is will autocrossing with VSA on hurt the car in anyway? Excessive clutch or brake wear?
***

Now it was time for an autocross specific alignment.
These are the specs recommended from the S2000 Stock class autcross information FAQ thread.

The spare tire along with all the jacking tools look like they have never been used.
Question: What belongs in the middle square of this trunk compartment?
***
Future plans:
Install OEM front license plate bracket
Replace burnt out interior dome light bulbs
Replace wiper blade inserts
Get all door dings pulled and *hopefully* fix rocker panel (pics to come)
Get the car professionally detailed
Professional photo shoot
Learn how to race RWD
Buy Dunlop Direzza ZII's 225/45/17 and 255/40/17

Now it was time for an autocross specific alignment.
These are the specs recommended from the S2000 Stock class autcross information FAQ thread.
[*] Front toe - 0" to 1/8" toe out
[*] Front camber - maximum available (generally between -1.5 to -1.8 degrees)
[*] Rear toe - 1/16" to 1/4" toe in
[*] Rear camber - -0.2 to -0.5 degrees more than the front camber[/LIST]Drivers with stock shocks or sway bars smaller than 1.375" may want to consider more conservative settings (e.g. more rear toe-in or less front camber).

I Autocrossed with VSA on. Wish I didn't have to use it but I haven't figured out how to properly race RWD. I have 4 years FWD experience

Thanks man.
If you look at my other videos on my YouTube channel you will see that I have been autocrossing for 4 years.
I am used to FWD so am having problems controlling the back end of this car but there are other S2000 racers so I will be picking their brain.
