Default My first s2000

Hi everyone new to the site. From queens ny. Not sure if I'm supposed to make a topic for this or what don't quite know how to work the site yet. But anyway looking to buy my first s2000, saw one on craigslist that looks like a great value. http://newyork.craigslist.org/jsy/cto/4511167926.html
Vin is JHMAP21415S004517 does anyone know this car or have any info on how to find out about it. By the way this is my first used car I am ever buying upgrading from family hand me downs. If the link doesn't work when you search craigslist it's the 2005 location ( NY-PA-NJ ) and title says mint condition. Thanks in advance for any info or advice. I look forward to becoming an active member when I purchase a s2000

I'm not sure what to do to do my due diligence . It's in jersey city so I called a honda dealership In The neighborhood and they will do a visual inspection and hook it up to the computer to see if anything comes up. Do u think that will be good enough? That cost 125$

Welcome! May I suggest reaching out to your local community, which I think would be the New York - Metro section? They can probably point you to some places to do a thorough pre-purchase inspection (PPI). You might even get lucky and have someone recognize the car and tell you about how it was cared for.

It shows up on http://www.salvagedb.com/ as being flood damaged. Never heard of the site before but I would definitely investigate before purchasing.

I can't believe nobody has mentioned this yet, but you have no idea how good you have it!!!!

You happen to be in the area of what may be the most knowledgeable s2000 mechanic in the world (really, that is no exaggeration).

https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/user/12160-billman250/

You need to get in touch with him for pre-purchase inspections (he may know of some available cars).

He's meticulous, so expect him to find some repairs and maintenance issues to address with any car you take him.

Do a little searching around here and you'll see just how respected he is (and reviews from folks that have been to his shop). When Billman talks, s2ki listens.

Autocheck doesn't show any flood damage or accidents but it does say it should have about 60k miles.

You can get free autochecks from http://www.nairaland.com/1504758/fre...check-reports/
