Post My first S2000

Well I have been looking into getting an S2000 for 6 months now. One out of Vancouver hit my eye and I started talking with the dealer. It is a 2002 Suzuka Blue S2K with 20,000km on it. So i left a deposit on it and decided to fly out to Vancouver yesterday just for the day to check it out. After a 3 hour walk through downtown I finally got to the dealership and took it for a drive. I loved it and bought it. It is currently on its way via train to me, it should be here in about a week I was told.

So now I am even more excited, I've been driving a 96 Jimmy SLT for 4 years now, which I am very fond of an take extremly good care of, but I have been wanting to get something more "Me". The S2000 is the right car for the summer time for me.

Next summer is when the modding starts, suspension and weight reduction come first .

I also have a few questions:

1. Is it possible to replace the bottom part of the passenger side dash with the one from a 2006 S2K that has the storage area?
2. Can the 2006 radio door be fitted onto a 2002 without modification?
3. Can the 2006 center console replace the console of a 2002 without modification?

Thank you very much and I look forward to being an active member in the community. I am a professional detailer for the time being so if anyone has questions I would be glad to help.

Great year, great color! (not that I'm biased).

Congrats!

I'm not sure about the questions you're asking. I know all kinds of substitutions with MY04-MY05 models were done on MY02s. Don't know about transplants from the MY06, though. Check the S2000 Talk forum.

The carpeted center console was replaced in 2002 (when, coincientially Suzuka was introduced.) The 02-03 Center Conole is color matched vinal, but the top part (with the cup holder, switches, arm rest and shift boot) are different.

The '04-'06+ plastic/leather center console will fit an AP1 without modification. However, the switches are different so you need the '04+ versions of those too.

The '06+ has the rear defroster switch mounted between the Hazzard and Roof switchs. There is no wiring to support it in the older cars. However, you could just leave the switch in place without connecting to anything.

To answer all 3 of your questions: Yes.

You should be able to fit everything into your 02. However, like ruexp67 said, some switches won't work/need to be rewired if you want to use them.

Anyway, have fun with your car!!! Btw ... if you don't mind, may I ask which part of Canada do you live in? Just curious, since you mentioned you flew to Vancouver to look at the car and had it shipped to you via train.
