Default My first S2000

Hi All, a quick intro from me. Just bought an 03 S2000 GT (silver). All i can say is, if cars are female, then i am a lesbian becuase i am in LOVE! What a car!
Current car was a 13 year old Mazda MX5 (old Eunos model), and although an exciting little car to drive, it's just a different world in the S2000.

Quick question if someone can help me? The car has come with an extended Honda warranty until Aug 2008 (i think i have to notify Honda to transfer ownership?). I notice the alloys have slight corrosion mainly around the rims (and very minor couple of scuffs). I can see from the forum that this is a common S2000 problem, but i wondered if anyone had found success in getting Honda to replace or refurb the wheels? Note the extended warranty does not have the wear and tear option.

Thanks in advance!

Congratulations and Welcome!

You can always try to get the wheels refurbished (or suggest a 50/50 deal?)

Keep your eye on the oil level.

And if you are still on the OEM 16" wheels with Bridgestone S-02's you should take extra care in the cold & wet.
As you know it isn't really winter in Europe and so far my S-02's have not surprised me, maybe the UK-spec allignment helps too.
IMO it's worth finding out how the allignment is on your car.
(and set it to UK-spec if its not, note that it will wear tires a bit more)

Have fun

Tee hee!!!

Well, I've christened my car as a male (Nebuchadnezzar), and I've loved mine for 4.5 years.

Welcome! And congrats on your "GT" model. As an MY03 owner, please keep an eye on your oil consumption at every fill up. It's normal for engines of our years to burn some oil.

Oh, and you asked about the pitting of the wheels... I don't think this is a warrantee type of repair. Aluminum wheels will corrode if they've been exposed to salt/sand... You could try asking the dealer, but you're better off just finding a good wheel shop to refinish the wheels, if you want that done.

Thanks for all the replies and the welcome. First time member of a forum too, so just finding my way about the site and learning the forum "etiquette" when posting and replying etc

Great advice about oil consumption (don't tell you that in the Owner's Manual... ) Gonna spend some time on this site getting the tips and tricks as i'm gonna look after this baby!

And hi to you Amanda. Surely we aren't a minority in the S2000 world..?!?!

Rach,

You're welcome. Take some time to read through all the FAQs at the top of the Introductions forum, and then look at the FAQ in the S2000 Talk section for reference. There's lots to learn.

Welcome! Oh, and (unfortuantely) women are definitely in the minority around here.
