My Life Story...
Hi, I’ve had a guest account here for a few months, but never really posted anything. In January of this year, I bought a 2002 S2000 for my first car ($10,750 w/ 58,000 miles).

Two months later (the day I got out for spring break) I hydroplaned while doing ten under the speed limit on straight, level ground. Long story short, I did $13,000 in body damage alone. I took the insurance check for $13,000 and sold the car for $6,500 in its wrecked condition with a clean title to someone in Houston.

I was devastated, but spent countless hours looking every day (or at least every other day) for a used 2002-2003 S2000 on S2KI.com, ebaymotors, Craigslist and AutoTrader over the next several months. These long hours of searching left me wondering…why is it that all of the good S2000’s are in New Jersey, Flordia, or California?
I was excited when I found a car nearly identical to my first one in Oklahoma, and drove 5 hours (each way) to see it. This lady who owned it was friendly, but VERY ignorant. She claimed that it had been in two minor parking lot accidents, but all that was replaced was the driver’s fender. She was right, the fender had been replaced, but so had both bumpers, the hood, and the driver’s quarter panel. She claimed that she didn't know about vin tags! But, if she was playing dumb, she fooled me.
When I stopped for lunch on the way back, I found 2 used ’03 Silverstones, one with 47,000 miles, and one with 20,300 miles both of which were at Park Place Porsche. I asked my dad to look at the one with 47,000 miles, and the entire front end had been replaced. Though he knew I couldn’t afford it, my dad still asked about the other one they had for sale.
Later, he told me that he had found and bought a 2003 White/Tan S2000 with 78,000 miles that had the soft top slashed, the driver’s seat ripped, and the driver’s window broken. He took me to see it at his work, and I looked it over. I was a little disappointed because I wouldn’t be able to drive it for a week, 78,000 miles is a lot, (not for a Honda, but still…) and I don’t particularly like White/Tan.
That’s when we walked around the corner, and there is the 2003 Silverstone with 20,300 miles. He had negotiated from $16,900 + tt&l to $15,300 out the door. This car came with every original document (you name it, I have it) new Bridgestone Potenza RE 960A Pole Position tires, the soft top cover, all maintenance records, all keys, and is in pristine condition (NO wear on the seat bolsters either).

Before anyone comments, it is important to note that:

Nice! I like the fib your dad told you about the white/tan one....I actually really don't like that color combo either :/
Congrats on finding another S. One thing though....How did you get $13k from insurance when the car barely KBBs for that much? I figured they'd total it...
