Default My New AP1!

Hey everyone!

Thought it was about time to introduce myself. Back in August I had this strong desire to buy a sports car. Earlier that summer two of my friends bought Miatas (NA & NB) and after having the chance to drive them I decided that i needed a fun weekend car of my own. I wanted a convertible with a stick shift that was unique and wouldn't break the bank or lose a bunch of value. I also have a thing for high revving engines and red leather interiors, so an S2000 fit the bill perfectly! I started searching around and only about a week after I started seriously looking, this MY01 popped up about 3 miles away from me that was nearly exactly what I was looking for:

~70k miles (was looking for something with <100k miles, <75k miles ideally)
-All Stock
-All matching vins
-Red interior
-Well maintained, always garaged, and cared for
-Within my price range
-Brand new soft top with glass window

Since I pulled the trigger I've done the following:

- All major fluids replaced
-Valve adjustment + checked retainers for cracks
-New tires+alignment
-Modifry DCI harness and new softtop straps
-New cabin air filter
-Re-greased shifter + added metal bushing
-Restored headlights to get rid of some light haze
-New wheels and tires (RPF1s - see last picture)

Stuff currently on the to-do list:

-Billman TCT (just so i don't need to worry about it in the future)
-Extended Honda Access floormats (currently on the way!)
-New clutch master cylinder (honda mechanic said the current one is starting to leak when i took it in for it's most recent oil change :/)
-Full paint correction and ceramic coat
-Maybe an OEM replica trunk spoiler... still deciding on that

Here are some pictures from the days right after I bought it:

And here's what it looks like now:

My daily is a 2008 Mazdaspeed3. I love having two fun, sportier cars that are completely different driving experiences (FWD vs RWD, Turbo vs NA, hatch vs convertible etc.). The Mazda is definitely a faster car in a straight line, but the S2000 more than makes up for it elsewhere. Shockingly, the insurance for the S2k is nearly HALF what my Mazda costs with the same coverage!

This car is currently being used solely as my weekend fun car that remains under a cover in the garage when not being driven. If there are any other Colorado S2k owners on here, you'll probably catch me at quite a few Cars & Coffee events in the Denver area.

Thanks for looking! Glad to be part of the community!

Great wheels on that car. It looks like you have done a good job reviving the paint even before a ceramic polish! I don't know why I dislike the term "paint correction."

Welcome! I recently reacquired another AP1 and quickly realized once again that these cars can't be beat!

I too need to check on my valves and retainers. How did you find yours?

Happy Motoring!
