Default New 2001 AP1 Owner

Hello everyone! I just recently bought a 2001 S2000 in silverstone color and I'm new to this forum. I'm from Scranton, Pennsylvania. The car was very well taken care of, and the only drawback that it has is it's high mileage. Current mileage 154,000. I paid 6,500 for the car, which I feel is a steal, because in this area the cars are extremely rare. I sometimes see s2000's with even higher miles going for $10,000, no joke. I have already been looking at this forum almost everyday and the information is great!

P.S Anybody here watch Mighty Car Mods on YouTube? Moog was one of the people that gave me the idea of a Honda S2000.

My biggest problem with the car is the front bumper was resprayed and is slightly darker than the rest of the car, and the mirrors are a little faded. How much would it be to respray these to the right color? NH630M is my color. Or should I just get mirrors off ebay for cheap and leave the bumper? I just dont want a body shop messing the color up even more.

Plans for the vehicle: Ultimately I want to make the vehicle into a show car.

Questions: What kind of maintenance should I do right off the bat?
The car has a TCT noise so I am going to replace it. Is The Ballade Heavy Duty good?

What I am doing to the car once the weather warms up. Once this is all complete the car should be perfect

- Newer Carpet
- New TCT
- New Sun-visors
- New center console
- Newer AP1 stock rims (The ones on the car are all scratched up )
- New Shift Knob
- New Rubber front lip
- Changing the oil, transmission fluid, and diff fluid
- New back tires
- Detailing the entire car
- New stereo system (My front plate is missing haha
- Strut Bar and Torque Damper
- Possibly getting the bumper and mirrors resprayed

After all this I'm going to leave it alone

Welcome and great choice. I've had my '01 for 11 years!

I wouldn't be too concerned about the mileage. An '03 was just listed on CL with 370k for $6,900! The cars are very durable but they're not without their quirks.

I would also pull the valve cover and inspect the retainers to make sure none are cracked.

Congrats! Looks great. I picked up one just like it last year this time - a 2001 silverstone.

Funny that you brought up MCM's. I just finished watching their miata vs s2k episode. Moog is freaking hilarious - and Marty's reaction to his jokes is perfect.
