new 2006 owner
Just got my S2000 and was surprised to see that the air ducts on each side of the main air intake are plugged with black plastic inserts. I always assumed that these were functional, and somehow ducted air to cool the brakes, has anyone ever removed these?
Also, the front grill was held in place only by the license plate holder, when I removed the license, the grill fell out, how is the grill secured to the body? there is no hardware on the grill and none on the body of the car, the grill is now being held in place with pressure-sensitive, double sided tape, which is working and does not show, but would like to have something more permanent.

The grill comes from the factory with double-sided tape (or maybe it's glue) on the bottom and clips at the top. It's fairly common for the male ends on the top of the grill that go into the clips to break.
A favorite solution is to use 3M double-sided tape on top and bottom. That's what I did and it holds wonderfully.
If you don't like this solution, you probably have to buy a new grill and clips.
If you ask me, double-sided tape will probably last you longer than a new grill
