Default new AP1 owner here

Hi all

I'll be getting my S2000 within this week. It's an AP1 that has done 51,000kms (roughly 30,000+miles) and it looks and rides like it. It's orginally a Japan unit that has been converted to LHD using US components. I actually prefer an orig LHD unit but those things are 50% more expensive that the Japan ones here.

I work part time at a tuning shop here as a tuner and we used to specialize in turbo Hondas but lately we have been diversifying our client base. I'm still an owner of a 530whp EK (used to be 600, but pulled alot of parts off for practicality and cost reasons) and it'll be traded in for the S2000 with me adding a bit of cash. This is not my first RWD since I used to be an owner of a 350Z track version, but I got bored with that shortly so I got rid of it and bought another Civic which is the one I have today.

Of course I'm looking into going turbo for this car eventually, but right now I just want to have a nice sports car for the weekend even if it's considered slow by today's standards and also something unique locally. What I plan on doing after doing a once over the mechanical things like changing tires and installing brake pads and higher rated brake fluid will be a track day with the car. I'm not much of a RWD guy-- while doing a test drive on this car I got it a bit sideways doing a flat 1-2 shift (c/o old tires) and that quite scared me. How the track day goes will eventually determine whether I'd turbo this S2000 or pussy out lol

Anyway, I'm looking into sharing my ownership experience with you members in the future but for the meantime I'll be more on the receiving end of infos at this forum since I'm an S2000 newbie. Thanks for the read!

I suggest to read up on maintenance FAQ and DIYs on this site. Also there are some "must" mods that are worth doing... (AP2 retainers and Oil Squirters being one of them).

Also if you are going to build it you should keep a record of you progress and start a new thread in "automotive builds" section as thats fun for all off us to read

Yes in fact I have been doing alot of reading for the past week, since not alot of people go F/I on their S2000 nor do I personally know people locally that currently own one. Thanks for the heads-up

I do in fact plan on doing a build thread later on if things get interesting. Otherwise, you'll just see me changing oils and spark plugs lol
