Default New AP2 Owner from Long Island, NY

Hello Everyone! Just wanted to introduce myself and my new AP2! I've been a longtime lurker on S2KI and have been dreaming for even longer about owning an S2000. This past Monday, my dad and I picked up a 2005 Silverstone Grey with 6,900 miles from Bridgewater Acura. It's a one owner car and completely clean, with only a few minor things needed to make it perfect!

Plans for the car are to keep it clean (hence the username!) and stock for now, and to enjoy it for the next few weeks before putting it in storage for the winter.

Our last project was a 1991 Civic Si Hatch. My dad daily drives a 2006 TSX while I drive a 2014 WRX. We're both looking forward to meeting fellow NY members and having fun working on this new toy. First round of work will be to change all the engine, trans, and diff oil. Thanks for looking!

Congrats and welcome! I know that car. I almost bought it. But I ultimately decided to go with an 2007 NFR from a private seller.

Thank you! I hope you didn't go too hard on it when you test drove it! Do you mind asking me what deterred you from this car?

Nothing at all. I had gone to see the car that I eventually bought, first, but after I left I had some doubts that the seller was going to accept my offer, so I started to look around just in case. I had kept an eye on 2 s2k's they had at bridgewater, your car, and an NFR with 9k on it. The NFR sold, so I called bridgewater and told them I was very interested in the 2005, told them I was going to make the trip to check out the car. Literally 10 minutes before I was about to leave, the private seller called me and told me we had a deal. So sadly I never got to drive your car haha

Do you mind me asking what you settled on price wise? the way they made it sound on the phone was that they typically don't move in price much.

We settled on $24,800- You are correct that they would not move much in price, but my dad and I had played out all the situations they would try to use on us. The sales rep was nice, but the sales manager played hardball as most do. I basically told them they amount they were asking was for a 100% perfect car, whereas in reality it needs a few bits to be pristine (wheel curb repair, one small dent popped out).

Other than the fact that they tried to silently screw us with a 6.9% APR on the financing, the deal went smooth and I was able to take the car home with me in less than 3 hours. I did, however, let the finance manager know that his 6.9% rate was crap and that I would be paying off the loan before any interest would accrue anyway. We had used the in-house financing as a bargaining chip to help with the total discount we received, and will be taking care of that situation at a later date. The important thing is that the car is now cozy in our garage!

Congratulations on the NFR you purchased! I sure love that color, but my dad is a huge fan of the SGM!

Thank you! I had gone through the link in your signature weeks before purchasing my AP2 just to get mentally ready! Might have to read through it again
