Default New guy here from FL

Hey all! Name's Matt, I'll be 19 in two weeks and will hopefully have my first S2000 by then.

Right now I drive a '96 Z28. I got the car almost 3.5 years ago, and it went from a docile 14 second car, to a 10 second car on skinnies/Mickey Thompsons with a broken AC, so it's getting to be kinda rough driving it around every day in this south FL heat.

I hope to keep the Z as a track toy to share with my father as long as my budget allows it...I really don't want to sell it after all of the time and work I've put into it, but life goes on...

I test drove an S2K for the first time last week, and it was an amazing experience. Aside from having extremely limited storage space, I think this will be the perfect car for me. At this point I'm not even looking for something fast, just something "fun". (to me, a 13-14 second car is fun)

I am going to look at a red '01 on Sunday, with 43,900 miles and still under extended warranty. What are some things on these cars that I should look for? I'm guessing there's really not a lot considering it's a Honda and all.

Anyways, wish me luck! I have my fingers crossed and really hope I get this car. And no, my parents aren't paying for anything.

Welcome. You sound like you are in the situation I was. I have a built turbo civic yada yada yah. a/c broke as well but didn't feel like fixing it, and it just became uncomfortable to drive. especially where i work and such it looked kinda childish to be pulling up in a "rice burner." but the civic has a lot of work and potential in it. I had always wanted an S2000 so when I started this new job a friend of mine's brother was selling his. so i jumped on it and I am 110% content with the car. mine's a MY00.

what to look for? well make sure the top doesn't look beat up, same with the body, the usual shit you know. like you said it's a honda... as long as it's stock there's not much that should really be screwed up. good luck dood, hope you get it.

Thanks everyone! The one I'm looking at has a brand new top in the description. She's asking $19,300 (2001, 43,900 miles) and if I like it, I'm probably going to offer $18,000. Does this sound reasonable? It seems like the book value for this year/mileage is around $17,900 - 18,300.

OK well I'm back guys.

That '01 I test drove had a very clunky transmission and the top was noisy as hell at only 50mph...so I scratched that idea and kinda decided to just live with my car for awhile.

Fast forward to now...my car's on e-bay and my parents want me to get something newer, so I'm back in the hunt for an S2K again. I found a nice black (red interior) '01 with 43k miles in Orlando. My best friend lives up there, so he's gonna check it out for me Monday, and if it's nice I might go get it!

I use to own an 00' S2K and when I got my 02' S2K some of the key features which made it more appealing were the glass rear window, carpeted center console, leather wrapped shiftknob, tweeters & better speakers/headunit, no 2nd gear buzzing, chrome rings around rear taillights, etc. Those kinds of little stuff made me want an 02'+
