New here from Miatas!
Hey everybody!
My name is Juan, I'm from Chicago. Good amount of you in the Chicago s2k community already know me. I recently purchased a 2001 S2000 in yellow and thought I'd finally introduce myself!

It's basically been a really refined miata so far. It's all the good things about the miata made better. Best thing is that I am slightly more visible as I'm yellow instead of black, and it is better for highway driving.
I had to get used to locking the car since people actually want an s2000, I would always leave the miata unlocked.
Steering feel is nicer in the s2000, but response is about equal.
It has much better build quality than the NA miatas I've owned. No squeaking on all the bumps.
Only con is the s2000 tops tear a lot easier than miata ones from what I've heard.

Congrads, I went through the same route.
Owned an 10AE miata and built it up to look like the one on Hardog roll bars front page. I then finally realized that it was really an yearning for the suzuka blue S2k that got me into all that mess. I felt that a miata is a very light weighted roadster with a much "softer" frame than the S. Imagine the feel of chasis flex & chattering when you go over bumps in the S being several folds. The reinforced windshield of the S was what caused my breakup with the miata. Pretty much gave away the mods on the miata when I sold it.
S is basically a miata on steroids as many would put it. Nevertheless, the miata drivers at AX are still kicking my butt even in stock class.
Also, miata's are generally a little cheaper to build and aren't as painful if you total it...

I too owned a Miata first. I have to say the 1999 Miata (converted to a Spec Miata) on the track is a lot more composed and balanced in regards to power than my new-to-me 2003 S2000. Granted I have never taken the S to the limit as I have my Miata, but I can already tell, the F20 motor is going to make very interesting corner exits...
My little Miata...

I will have to say, the S is everything great about the Miata yet more civilized. It's a great commuter!
