Default New(ish) owner of a 500k mile crashed AP1 from Chicago!

Hello!

Once upon a time, one of you fine folks who goes by the name Slalom44 modified an S2000 and squeezed 498,452 miles out his New Formula Red S2000 before ending up occupying the same physical space as another vehicle.

That car ended up on an auction page, and that page ended up on my Reddit feed, and that car ended up in my possession.

I will try to keep this short, but we’ve been spending the last 4 months repairing it. The car is living in my dad’s shop about an hour away from us, so work days are limited to a few hours a day once or twice a week.

The good news is we wrapped up major repairs last night! Both front fenders, both headlights, the bumper and the hood all needed replacing but they just bolt in so no big deal. The majority of the work was done to the upper core support, which needed 40 spot welds drilled out in order to remove. We then got a junkyard front clip and had to transplant the core support from there onto our car, which meant more drilling, then welding then painting! Easy!

Anyway, I’d love to do a proper write up and/or video on this car if there’s interest. Let me know! I’m not exactly a YouTuber but I’m not a welder either and here we are.

I remember reading posts about this car when I used to own a S2000 and wonder how much mileage can I put onto a S2000. Glad to see it on s2ki and looking forward to some updates! Would be lovely to see it hitting 500k+ miles!

Welcome to S2KI!

You could post a build thread in the Gallery section: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/automotive-builds-284/

Also, we have an Upper Mid-West section if you need something locally or just want to say hi: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/upper-mi...000-owners-31/

Best of luck!

Hi ShipBob,
When you get it together and running, put another 500k miles on it.
