New! Just wanted to say hi
Thanks so much for the warm welcome. Just wondering. What's your story? How did you buy your s2000? What was your relationship with your car? How was it purchased? What are your intentions? Im an east coaster from the NJ/PHILA region and purchased my s2000 ap2 silverstone from a gentleman from pa. Long story short it took over 5 years to find the right one. Searching far and wide through forums and countless Craigslist ads to find the right one. He purchased it from the original owner at about 45k on the odometer. The original owner was older man that garage kept the car and only taken out during mountain runs on dry perfect days. He eventually upgraded to an BMW so he had no use for the s. The 2nd owner was in his late 20's and garage kept the car and until he ran over a curb by accident and scrapped the under carrage of the s. The extent of the damage was not bad at all as I analyzed the damage which only chipped the front intercooler. The car has since been repaired and has been fixed directly from a honda dealership. He was eventually going to get married and just purchased a home so he had to let the car go. He really didnt want to get rid of the car as because it had sentimental value. Of course he met current wife when they first started dating when he had it. Knowing that the car had a salvage title, and in between the 5 years and numerous s2000's that i have driven. None has even felt as healthy as this car even though the car has been in a small fender bender. Needless to say in the back of my head I knew that it was the one. Silverstone ap2 with red and black was what i was looking for for such a long time. I had to jump on that offer. He already had two buyers line up and if i snoozed.... i wouldn't have gotten such an amazing deal. I now look at it as though he could really tell i really wanted it and he sorta knew what my intentions were, i wanted to keep this car as long as i could keeping it a classic and refrain from butchering this beautiful machine. I purchased it the same day. I look back at it and still to this day.....was the best purchase i have ever done in my life. It was my childhood fantasy to own one of these classics. I was only in 8th grade when the s2000 came out playing many many many hours of gran turismo finding out what car i wanted for YEARS. Lots of test tracks later and test drives later i found myself wanting the s2000 even more. Since the purchase i have never regretted the decision at all. Fast forward to today. 2 full years later I still own the car and plan on putting more miles and more modifications. As the car sits it's still unmodified. Still bringing smiles to my face. It made me complete. I plan on keeping the tradition alive and as i consider myself a motorsport enthusiast I plan on keeping the s2000 as long as i can to keep traditon as well as my hobby alive. I wanted to share my story to others in the forums to encourage all the s2k owners out there that making a childhood dream into reality is not only a passion but a way of life as well. I wanted to say thank you for everyone reading this thread and to encourage all s2000 owners the best of luck as well safety to enjoy the passion of driving and following childhood dreams. Because that's what i did.
