Hello everyone, my name is Alex. I recently sold my RSX and am about to buy an S2000
. I have found a NFR that I am going to pick up on tuesday! I cannot wait. This seems like a great forum and I can't wait to talk more with you guys and learn more about this wonderful car!

It all depends on how the previous owner took care of it so there's no way to really tell if that car will give you any problems just yet. The pictures look nice though. I bought my 2000 with 64,462 miles for $13,000 and then I found out that the previous owner had hit a curb before (so the one you showed me is much better than my deal). I cost me well over $2000 to fix the problems associated with it. So just make sure all 4 wheel gaps are even, to exclude that possibility. Everything else has been good so far and she's up to 80,400 miles now
An important part of S2K maintenance is the oil so just make sure it has the proper oil level in it before you buy it. Check the level on a cold engine and look at both sides of the dipstick for the lowest reading. It should be exactly at H. Then just start it up, let her warm up, take her for a spin, and listen for weird noises, etc.
Then of course, since it's a used car, I would then change all the fluids and inspect everything real good, after I buy it, to understand the situation/condition of the car better.

Thanks samsam! That is some really good advice. I am going to look at the car on tuesday and probably buy it. I am going to take it to a mechanic to let him look it over also. I can't wait to own a S2000!!
Thanks Levi, at this point I am definitly going to buy it if everything checks out with the mechanic. I have been reading and think I will need to change the retainer or something? any info on this would help

it looks pretty good. like sam said i would check to see if everything is good. also if you decide to get it make sure you switch out all fluids with new fluids so you know when to change them from now on. For engine oil just use your favorite full sythetic blend. For tranny oil get honda fluid. you will need 2 bottles for tranny oil type 2. for the rear diff get mobil 1 or the LE oil(forgot the name). with 77k miles it looks like you MIGHT also need a new clutch since again you dont know what the previous owner did. also abilene honda part dept will be you new friend
update: I drove three hours today to look at this "little to no wear" condition S2000. The paint was pealing in some places, had probably 500 schratches and dents, had a valve knocking and check engine light, and also air was coming through the convertible top and sounded like you were in the middle of a hurricane when you reached 70mph. I was so dissappointed. Needless to say I did not buy the car. The search continues...

and welcome......
