Post New member to this awesome community!

Hey,

Just wanted to let all of you know that I am a newbie, in a way, and happy to finally be a part of you guys. I've been sneaking in and out of this forum for about 5 months now behind the scenes, trying to get more and more info on the S2k. I'll be graduating college this semester and a gift to myself is a new car. Right now I'm about 95% S2k and about 5% Scoobie STI... any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, even though I know what most of the responses will be...

Anyway... it's finally nice to be able to put in my 2 cents.

Welcome aboard. Both great cars, IMHO. The "right choice" may depend on where you live (weather-wise) and if this will be your only car.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the welcome Colo!!!!

Yeah, I hear you about both cars being absolutely amazing, and that's the problem... lol. You are right about it depending on where I live because that's part of the problem too because I live in Jersey and we get awesome, hot summers, but the winters are hideous too, lots of snow. Right now I have a 1986 VW Jetta Diesel and the thing is amazing in the snow. So if I decide to keep this car then the S2K is the choice I suppose, but not sure if I'm up to paying for two car insurances.

Thanks for your opinion... appreciate it.

i live outside of Philadelphia and decided on the S2k over the STi. The winter did not play a factor into my decision since I do have others means of transportation.

Obviously driving both would be best. They are two completely different vehicles.

My best advice to you is to not get in over you head right after graduation. Ive been through it, and digging out it not fun. Best of luck with your future.

Yeah... I hear you sweetmeat. I thought about it for a while so I'm really not too worried about being tight on the wallet (I think this is what you're referring to). I'm still living at home so I really don't have to worry about all the other expensives of living alone. I've been keeping the hole in my pants small and saving for years just to finally reward myself. We'll see what happens.

Thanks for the concern and look out though...

Keep the spare car.. you will get a multiple car discount if you have more cars than drivers and can select lower mileage per year on the s2000. Plus only need liability on the vw unless you have lots of nice stuff..

Both are nice cars.

If you keep the VW go with the S2K. But make sure you drive both of them and find the one that is right for YOU!!!!

Yeah I'm pretty sure that I'm going to keep the VW, but it's really up to my pops cause it's his. He kind of wants to just junk it or sell it but it's only worth about 1000 bucks and it would be far more beneficial to me to keep it cause it's in really good shape. It's a 1986 with only 75000 miles on it and I get 45 mpg... gotta love the diesel engines. That's good to know about the discount cause I had no idea about that.

Thanks for the info fellas. I will test drive both and check it out, but man the topless is so appealing to me right now and I'm sure even more appealing when the nice weather comes rolling in.

Thanks again...
