Hey guys. Just joined the forums to do a look research before purchasing my first S. If anyone has any tips for what to look for when inspecting a S2000 or a good place to look for ones for sale, let me know. Thank you in advance.
hey there, welcome along.
make sure the timing chaing tensioner has been changed and preferably to a toda tensioner. OEM honda tensioners arent the best.
Also has the diff and gearbox oil been change recently or regularly.
Sometimes s2k's suffer from seized bushes so check for any squeeks when going over bumps.
Generally these cars are bullet proof. As Jeremy Clarkson once said "they are about as reliable as an old wooden stove".
I've recently bought one myself, so i know where you're coming from with the apprehension.
As long as there is a full or comprehensive service history you should be ok.
best of luck with the search.

Mainly check for accidents. Make sure the headlights are in alignment, if the top of the headlight is dipped in that means the aligning tab is gone or not in place. Cleanliness is a plus, anything you find wrong is a deduction in my book to drop the price. Where in FL are you?
Just moved outside Tampa in the Apollo Beach area. And thanks for the tips all, hopefully I will find one I can enjoy and not worry about fixing a bunch of stuff initially to get it to run right.
Hey, good luck with your search. I found mine in April in Sarasota thru autotrader.com. I would recommend something with about 50,000 miles as a good place to start,
depending on price of course. That being said this area seems to support higher prices than other areas of the country.
