Default New member and some advice on getting a used s2k

Hi All!

I've been recently on the deck about getting a used s2000. There's one near by me, an '02 blue on blue s2000 at $11k. The thing is that it's blue in and out and it looks really tacky. That and it has about 82,000 miles.

My question is, how much would it cost for a rebuild (the engine of course)?

Right now I'm a student with one more semester of college for my mech. engineering degree and then off to commission in the Army as an ordnance officer. I was lucky enough to own an '05 Evo for a while until I had to sell it (and I love that car). But I also love the s2000 when I drove an '05 s2k when my uncle leased one (I KNOW I want to own one for sure because I know it's that good).

So I'm thinking I can haggle the price below $10k because it's been listed over and over again on ebay, craigslist, and whatever (just look at the mileage too). From there I can use it to do errands (I study in NY and came from LA). But after school, since it has so many miles, I want to rebuild the engine and also do a complete overhaul on the car. Change the seats, put a hard top on, possibly do a paint job, etc. Do any of you think this is a good route? I'm not sure about a complete modification of the car since I've only done petty stuff on my Evo.

Anyways, thanks for any input! Looking forward to participating more in this community!

If the mileage scares you, as you'd want to rebuild the engine, look for 1 with less mileage in the color you want.

Do you mean turbo by overhaul?

Tacky color? Too many miles? Sounds like this particular S isn't the one for you. Now is the time to buy and people are constantly getting sick deals. I'm sure if you wait and look around some more you can find the best color/mileage combo at the right price. Go to the for sale section, many deals are just dying to be had.
