Default New owner, 2003 S/C S2000

Well after much debate I finally decided to purchase a S2000 and sell the E46 M3. I will compare and contrast this car to my M.

I purchased a 2003 Spa Yellow (BEAUTIFUL color) with 20k on the odometer.

It has the following mods:

Comptech S/C w/ aftermarket cooler
Comptech Lightened flywheel
Comptech Reinforced Diff
ACT clutch (?)
Spugen single outlet exhaust
T1r test pipe
Siebon Carbon Fiber Hood
Tein Coilovers
Corbeau racing seats
ADR rims
Wideband gauge, boost gauge, fuel pressure guage

I know I forgot some others but here are some pictures.

Well let me first say, this car is on rails. It sticks and grips and turns. In comparison to my M (which has full GC coil overs) it is definitely more agile and quick. However as far as stability at high speeds and high speed cornering; the M takes it in that regard. The S2000 is definitely more of the AutoX car in comparison to the M which is a track car. (Granted they both are easily capable of both)

I was slightly dissapointed with the S2000's power before boost and Vtech, it seems to just slightly drag along...but once in those high revs; it is simply spectacular. (I guess this is what I get for no TQ)

The drivetrain is honestly the best feature of the car. I cannot explain how precise, smooth, and confident it feels switching gears. There is no lag, no sloppy gates, just precision. It is fun in itself just to shift gears!

However a MAJOR downfall in this car (granted I am coming from a M3 w/ 8 speaker H&K system) is the stereo. It is...dismal to say the least. I am not impressed whatsoever, however this is a drivers car so obviously Honda did not necesarilly care about the stereo. Nevertheless it is something that can be fixed in the future.

Storage space...hah.

Overall, when comparing the M3 to the S2000; the S2000 definitely is more of a drivers car, you feel more, you experience more. It has it's downfalls, as does the M, but it still excels elsewhere. The M3 is more of an "around town car" with track day useage and reliability, while the S2000 is more of a purist approach and a much more enjoyable car to drive (except for that darn sound system).

Bang for the buck? S2000

Enjoy.
