Don't bother with headrest speakers - a good head unit and speaker combination will do wonders. Check out the Electronics section FAQs and you will learn everything you need, but figure at least $500 to do the job right.

My complete stereo setup cost ~800, so it can definitely be done on a budget. this includes head unit, front components, replaced 01 door panels with 03 for tweeters, 4 channel amp with rack, added rear speakers, replaced all wiring.

good luck, the stock stereo bites

You dn't even need to amp the system right away. Consider this order:

1. New HU
1.5 Modifry Dash Control Interface
2. New speakers
3. New amp AND wiring
4. sub
5. bigger amp... etc

Personally, I think that with good speakers and power, rear speakers are unecessary.

Just save up and do it right - you can buy a quality Alpine HU online for around $200. A Modifry DCI is $100. Good speakers like Polk db6500s can be had for $200. etc. You'll save a lot of money if you install everything yourself - the radio is a no brainer, the DCI requires 1st grade math, the speakers are a bit more involved. etc

Not being a stereo buff I replaced the two front speakers and installed two speakers in the back wall behind the seats. Sounds fantastic and cost less than 200 bucks. I agree forget the headrest speakers.

Take a look through the electronics forum here on s2ki.com and ask around.

There are many options.
