Default New Owner!

What a rash decision! I started looking for a S2K on Friday night. Found one on ebay that was...questionable. Luckily it was in the area. Woke up Saturday morning, drove down to the guy. 2 hours later. I wrote a check out for 22K.

The car has 9500 miles on it and was in much better condition that the listing showed. I think that was a great deal.

I wasn't sure about the white at first, but the more I look at it, the better it looks! I love it on the black interior especially. I'm picking up the car on Thursday and will get pictures up as soon as I can.

You found a nice deal. GPW is a very sporty yet classy color, particularly with that interior combo in MY06. You will love it, congrats.

22K for an 06 with 9k miles? Excellent deal IMO.

So I finally picked up the car tonight....and already I'm having issues [argh]

Hopefully someone can help me out. I'll try to be as specific as possible.

The car was fine when I test drove it (30min about) and when I picked it up. Right after I picked it up, I drove about 20 miles. The seller didn't fill up the tank for me, so I got gas. I filled her up with BP 93 Octane (took me forever to find the gas latch btw!) After the fill up everything was normal. I stopped for food - about 45min. When we came back out, we popped the hood briefly - juts for admiration purposes. Didn't touch anything, closed the hood. And started her up. She threw a CEL immediately upon startup. Ok..no problem, probably just stupid gas cap not on tight. Pop the thing open. Unscrew the gas cap all the way, and back on until it clicks. Close it. Restart the car. Same thing..

I know some of the newer cars throw a fit with the gas cap. Anything else I should do to make sure it's not this?

I'm trying to schedule a service appointment, but nobody has any openings for about 2 weeks. And I really want to drive the thing, but it's probably a bad idea.

Try resetting the ecu. I didn't click my gas cap once and I got a check engine light. I had to disconnect the battery for the light to go away.

if you really want to know what the CEL code means, take it to an autozone and use their computer for free to hook it up - this will decipher the CEL and spit out a code. Come on here or call a dealer and find out what the code means.

I went to Autozone, unfortunately their OBDII software is too old to link up to the computer. It just wouldn't read. So I made an appointment with the dealer to get it checked out. I recheck the gas cap every day now. I haven't tried disconnecting the battery, but I did pull the fuse and it just stayed on. The car runs fine and it's not blinking..so I guess I shouldn't be too worried.

I wouldn't worry about it. Have the CEL read when you get a chance, but it will probably go off on its own since you have the cap on right at this point. Remember, its an 06 and is under warranty so you don't have anything to worry about anyway.
