Default New owner with a nice ap2

Hi everyone,
Introducing myself to the community and looking forward to a great ownership experience. I have been mostly Porsche and BMW and this is my second venture into JDM.
This 06 has 22k miles and has been very well cared for. Currently has the following:
* CCW wheels
* Tein suspension
* Mugen Hardtop
* Upgraded sound system, Sony headunit, Focal speakers, Pioneer sub all integrated to the controls
* Aero package
* UK mod
* Modified airbox
No engine mods and extremely nice. Was considering the Gernpipe and hondata tune, but want input from the community. Also what are the thoughts on supercharging?

Thanks,
Alan

Welcome, and it looks like you found a lovely car. Enjoy!

Unless you are confident that the valve gaps have been checked recently, and even with such low mileage, it might be wise to pull the valve cover and check to be sure they are not too tight. If nothing else, you can set a baseline to compare to when you check them in the future. You probably already know this, but the nearly universal recommendation here is to keep a pretty close eye on the valve gaps on DBW s2k's. Its not hard to do, and it can prevent a lot of heartache down the road from burned valves.

Thx for the valve adjust advice. I will plan to do this very soon. Any thoughts on the Gernpipeand hondata tune? Supercharging?

Nice low mileage example! Not sure what an "aero package" might be unless that means the front and rear spoilers. The car looks remarkably stock -- other being lowered and those wheels...

If you're in a smog test county don't even consider supercharging the car. And even a Hondata FlashPro tune may not pass smog although I passed Ohio smog with my Gernby tuned '06 in '15 and '16. The Gernpipe exhaust shows nice power improvements, especially with a FlashPro tune and lowered VTEC but that will all be superfluous if you supercharge the car. Look at your ultimate goal before pouring money into the car. Speaking of money, an excellent, professionally installed turn key supercharger setup will set you back $9,000 or so at LHT in Tampa.

Thanks all for the well wishes. I will definitely get the valves adjusted and then see where I’ll go from there. Gernpipe and tune are close to $2k and modding the engine with a supercharger is costly. Not to mention that I could never get that money back unless I kept the car for a very long time.
I am used to much more torque and I am having a seat of the pants issue with this. I also own a very special E39 M5 with some mods that has all kinds of torque so getting used to this is an adjustment. Maybe I need to drive it a bit more and try to get adjusted. Get stopped all the time by enthusiasts since it’s a looker. If I can’t get past the torque issue I will likely sell it.

If you already have a car that produces the torque you like, why try to make the S2000 the same? Enjoy it for what it is, a totally unique driving experience.

FlashPro tune with a 3600 VTEC will add over 10% power at mid ranges. Maybe 20%. There was data posted in the past month with power/torque curves, etc.

If you're happy driving a German family coupe... Heck there are guys buying Civic R's. Yeah, they're fast. They're still Civics fixed roofs and all.
