I just bought an 06, which has no mods and only been enjoyed for 24,000 km. I'm 68 and have had a variety of sports cars (including current Triumphs 73 TR6 and 56 TR3). Had been keeping my eyes open for an s2000 for a while. Looking forward to learning from this community. One thing I do want to change are the tires as they are still the originals. I had a look at the tires discussions and I see many different recommendations. Not interested in tracking the car. Most driving will be on rural roads. I am assuming that stock size tires would be just fine on stock rims. Leaning toward Michelins, but open to other suggestions. The real bummer is that my right arm has been in a cast since 2 days before I took delivery, so still waiting to drive it. Cheers, Mike

Welcome to the forum, hope your arm heals sooner rather than later.

Welcome and enjoy that lovely car. In my opinion, yes, stock sizes for tires give your use and yes, get rid of those old tires. I suggest that you get a good alignment when you get the tires.

Looks like a great car to enjoy. Tires are like oil, everyone has their favorite. I'll be getting new ones next year since my rears are wearing much faster than the fronts. The fronts are in great shape but the Goodyear Eagle GTs that are on it aren't produced anymore and I don't want to mix tires.

Personal opinions and bias are alive in the tire discussions here and elsewhere. I've always considered Michelins to be mediocre (like Sony) and depending on their brand name. Since this will be a summer car summer tires are appropriate. I've had two sets of Extreme Performance tires on my '06 and found no seat-of-the-pants difference dropping down to the Max Performance category. Extreme performance tires are overkill (and wear fairly quickly) but overkill always works. It's not like you're going to go thru a set of any tires very soon.
I prefer asymmetrical tread patterns which emphasize cornering over rain performance. I corner all the time and rarely get stuck in the rain. Bridgestone S-04 tires this time on the car. I toyed with getting Bridgestone RE-71R tires to replace my RE-11A tires but the tread noise is significant compared to the S-04s.
Enjoy the car. Speaking of rain note the S2000 roof goes Up in six (6) seconds and you never leave the driver's seat. Compare this to the six (6) minutes required with the TR4 and the the six (6) hours for the TR3 and side curtains. Both standing out in the rain. Still love both cars, though.

Thanks Chuck. Sort of feedback I as looking for. Performance or Max Performance are likely to suit my needs I think. You are correct about roof times on the Triumphs ... best just to keep driving in the TR3 for sure :-)
