Hey guys/gals-
I recently inherited a 2005 Honda S2000 from my mother in law to keep until my son is old enough to drive it. She has health issues and cannot drive the car anymore, which is sad. I have taken care of the car for her for the last 5+ years since my wife and I got together, and so she trusted me with it.
I grew up helping my father work on and rebuild engines in old cars, motorcycles, go carts....pretty much anything that runs on gas. I have worked on all my own cars, and have built 4 cars: a 1961 falcon futura gasser, a 1931 model a roadster modified, a 1955 buick special custom, and most recently a 1928 model a roadster pickup.
I have always appreciated Honda tuning cars, but never really dabbled in them. The first time I drove this S2000 i was impressed, and hooked. I absolutely love this little rocket sled, and hope to enjoy if for years to come. I can't see this ever leaving the family.
My mother in law bought it way back in 2009 and it had appx 20k on it from the original owner, who was a Honda dealership owner I believe. It now has around 120k on the clock and runs like a top. No issues whatsoever aside from needing a new paint job and some body work from years of driving. I believe it has an aftermarket high performance exhaust on it, as well as O.Z Superleggera forged rims on it. It also has a custom short throw shifter on it. Aside from those mods, I haven't dug into it yet to see what all has been done to it. It appears to be stock apart from what I know of.
I have no intention of heavily modding this car, but rather restoring it as it is now and keeping it dialed in for years to come.
I look forward to learning more from you all about these awesome cars
John

Good luck with it. You should have no problem getting it back in top form. Just take your time and research your options on everything you need to check off the list.
When I first drove the one i inherited, i liked it but I didn't get it. When I owned it, I got it. Unfortunately sold that one and had a big void from losing that s2000. Only cure was another s2000.
Welcome and congrats! Of course if your son is in the bay area and he's anything like I was he's not gonna be in a hurry. That's a good thing. Heck, I can hardly get my teenage behind the wheel in my 4runner let alone my s2k. The manuals scare the crap out of him. lolol
