Default new s2000

So I just bought myself a new white 2006 S2006.

The dealer offered to sell me this Xzilon thing that's supposed to protect everything, interior and exterior for life.

Also, there's the lo-jack system that places 30 trackers in different parts of the car so the company can find my car if it's ever stolen.

There's also the security system with motion sensor that activates if anyone reaches into the car while the top is down.

I was wondering if anyone has anything good or bad to say about these extras before I commit to buying it. Thanks!

The lojack you do not need (our cars have an immobalizer), the alarm is not a bad idea if it is a Honda product (imo), as for the protective coat of Xzilion see if one of the detailers in the back can put it on for you on the side...dealer will charge like $600 probably

Also known as ............ "HIGH profit for dealer" plan. Nothing on a car can be protected for life. The S2000 is rust proofed very well from the factory, so you don't need this. The interior is like a Scotchguard, which lasts for about 6 months. So where's the "life" in that. And the paint protection costs the dealer about 3 bucks in supplies and 1 hour labor for some schmuck at minimum wage to put on. Read the fine print on this. It will likely require you to go back for an annual inspection and possible "touch up" at YOUR expense to keep the "lifetime" warranty.
If you've got bags of money just waiting to fly out of your possession, then go ahead and do it. In about a year or two, when you notice the paint is getting a little "un-shiney" looking, you will have forgotten how heavy that bag of money was that you dragged down the dealer's office was.

That just sounds like a proximity sensor to me ...

FYI, I wrote something up for another thread in this forum about alarms: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=387623

Enjoy and Congrats on your purchase!!!

Oh yes, almost forgot ... don't forget to get seat locks!

Lojack is not the same thing as the immobilizer (which is stock). Lojack is a great system if you're in a high car-theft area. I think you get an insurance break with it (but check that out).

I agree on the exterior protection stuff. Nix it.

Take the car stock, and consider the Lojack if it's useful for your insurance and you want to do it.
