I debated on that one. Initially I used "have had", then for some reason I decided it wasn't necessary. When I read you post, I agreed with it, and now 2 minutes later I think had had might be preferred.

I'm not sure how that supports your case. The earlier of the past actions is the possession of the other Hondas (had had). The recent/continuing to the present action (have had) is the ownership of the S2000.

(I'm assuming that he doesn't have the CRXs, Delsols, and Civics anymore and that the ownerships of said vehicles ended either near the time, about two years ago, or prior to of the acquisition of his S2000. Accordingly, the possession of them are neither recent or continuing to the present.)
