Default new s2k owner~!~! Supra -> S2000

Hello All,

I purchased a 2003 ap1 s2000 yesterday. I have not found time to really look into everything. I previously had a twin turbo supra mk3 (1jz). The supra is definately faster, but when i first drove the s2000. I thought it was really slow, until i hit vtec w/ the tach screaming to redline. And i thought i can get used to this. Of course i short shifted the first time i drove it b/c i wasnt used to the digi tach. Boy was it fun to drive, boring when on small cam but decently powerful on the larger cam.

The s2000 also needs your full attention when you're cornering. I mean the supra is no slouch, but the s2k kicks out the rear a lot faster and the transistions are lightning quick. i am having a lot of fun already. Well i just wanted to say hi to everyone on the forums and have a few questions.

1 - s2k's dont come with alarms? Or at least a keyless entry system?

2- i did not see a see power locks on the car. I had to manually unlock the passenger side door. Can you let me know where it is, it was too dark by the time i got home to find it.

3- do any of you guys have an autostart on our s2k's?

4- why did they make it so hard to find the fuel door latch? i was at the gas station for 5 mins before i got the thing to open.

1) I don't really understand cause I've never seen one without an alarm or keyless entry.

2) To my knowledge there is no power lock.

3) ...

4) Ask Honda...no but seriously it is annoying.

Welcome aboard!! Congrats on your purchase!

1. You can get a factory alarm for you S2000, and yes they all came with a keyless entry system.

2. Once your in the car there is no way to hit a button to unlock the other side. If you hit the unlock button on your key fob twice it unlocks both sides.

3. I know of two people that have autostart on their S2000s. It seems to work just fine. It was not a factory option .

4. Welcome to the club, a lot of people spend time looking for that damn release.

ps - find your secret compartment yet??

1. Most honda's after 2001 come with an key dependent immobilizer. No they don't come with alarms unless installed by the dealer.

2. The car comes with power door locks but there's no lock/unlock button in the car. The driver door lock will auto lock the passenger side but will not autounlock. The key fob doesn't work after the key is in the ignition but there's a mod to bypass this. Others have made a unlock switch.

3. There are autostart systems that can accomodate manuals.

4. Have you found the secret compartment? That's hidden even more.

I believe you can unlock the passenger side from the outside as you are unlocking the drivers side. just hold the key in the unlock position for a second or two and both will unlock. might be wrong, someone verify?

I tried tonight from inside using the clicker and held it down. No luck. I'm pretty sure it all works when the key is out of the ignition.

THanks guys, i have not found the secret compartment where is it? I have noticed we have power locks. I close my driver side door and lock it on the driver side the passenger side locks along with it.

Getting more used to the s2k. It's one of the best handling cars i've ever driven. I found the rear does kcik out quite quickly, but it's easy to adjust. The supra kicked out slowly, but it was harder to adjust.

s2k is definately easier to keep in rev range round corners. Stays in vtec the whole time. My supra needs to spool when i hit the corner exit, s2k powers right out.

Learning more everyday!
