New S2K Owner in Austin TX
Hi everyone,
I got my dream car this week: 2006 S2K NFR in mint condition. Two previous owners, but only 9,902 miles on the odometer! Yes, I checked the Carfax.
I got the complete story from JB, the guy I purchased it from. The first owner in Wisconsin drove it 7700 miles in two years. JB bought it, shipped it home to Texas, parked it in his garage, and over the next 6 years only drove 2200 miles. The only change to the original vehicle is the upgraded sound system. The first owner added about $2K in JL Audio equipment including 300W Amp, speakers, and Stealthbox woofer. I can’t thank JB enough for allowing me to be the next owner of this beautiful ride.
After the drive home to Austin, I did an oil change and replaced the battery which had gotten weak from not being used all those years. Then I took a bunch of pics. Hope you like ‘em!
I’ve been looking through the forums here to find local meet-up groups and to get tips on detailing. Appreciate any advice you have on keeping this looking mint. I mean other than leaving it in a garage for another 6 years!

Congratulations. Sounds like you found a gem. I bought my first S2K in April. 06 NFR with 17K miles. You'll get a reply to your post with a link to maintaining your S2K that is very helpful. I changed all the fluids, the tires and got an alignment on mine. New tires and an alignment really improved its ride. 8 year old tires are at the end of their life even if they still have some tread left. I bought all the fluids from Amazon (even the OEM Honda fluids) and it was very convenient - took them to my mechanic, no problem. I went with Honda fluids for radiator, brakes, and transmission and Royal Purple for motor oil and the rear differential - if you use Honda fluid in the rear diff, make sure it isn't the rear diff fluid for a CRV or Pilot - apparently some people including Honda mechanics can get it confused.
I did a few small quick mods with stuff I bought from Modify 1) Replaced the convertible top straps. Very easy, took 30 minutes and the top seats much lower into the rear deck than it did previously. My original straps were kind of loose and droopy when the top was up ($20 fix). I put the center compartment organizer into the space above the 12v power adapter ($10 or $20). I also added the cup holder that uses the screw holes from the passenger side net (on the tranny/drive shaft hump). The cup holder with the mounting plate was around $30 - best $30 I ever spent - it is very high quality and securely holds a cup even while cornering - just make sure you close it when a passenger gets in as it is easy to bump a leg into it - once the passenger is in, just flip it open if you need it.
I'll be in Austin for the Grand Prix in the first weekend of November - maybe I'll see you cruising along I-35 with the top down 8^)
Good luck!
