Default New in SD - Carlsbad

Hey everyone, I was super lucky after a lot of patience and research to find a 2002 s2k with only 18,500 miles on it in near mint condition back in February. Since then have of course been enjoying driving all over the place and now have nearly 24,000 (drove to Vegas as well). The car is completely stock and was sooooooo pissed when driving down the road the other day when it felt like someone hit my windows with a bb gun (was only going 30 mph) which caused a crack. Thankfully i have a no-deductible insurance to cover the soft top and trouble makers lol. I've seen only a handful of s2k's out there, but i'm sure they are just as happy as I . Below are some pictures of my lucky find

I am 6'4" tall and fit comfortably, but would like to lower the seat so that my legs can be free under the steering wheel (to heel-toe in future) I've done some research and found the post about the DIY seat drop as well as the aftermarket rails for sale in japan at a high price tag of 300 something. I also want to switch out the wheels to 17 inch (when current tire treads run out). Some have reported performance problems when switching to ap2 wheels... but I don't plan on doing any track or crazy driving for a few years.. anyone notice significant difference if switching to 17inch wheels? Thanks all for answers.

Nice low mileage S. I'm 6'1" and I'm almost claustrophobic with the leg room. I'm used to having the ability to raise my leg between the gap between the steering wheel and the door like on my M3.

Welcome to the forums. You should stop by the San Diego Regional section and introduce yourself as well. There are many local heads that are very knowledgeable about the car. I'm in San Diego as well...but south side. Probably won't see you outside of a meet

I'm 6'3 and I have a BYS Low seat rail for my driver's side. It's perfect for my height. They're not made anymore IIRC, but you might find one for sale if you look hard/long enough.

Welcome to the site, you found yourself a good year. I recently switched to 17" wheels but it is hard telling if it is the wheels or new tires that is making for a smoother ride.

Aye, I saw the BYS seat rail and am hoping to find one for sale on ebay rather than chop up the seat and rail as per DIY guide. I'll post an intro in the SD group, I have seen a handful of s2k's around north county. One waved to me at a stop sign in rancho santa fe area while I was out on my cruise loop (I have a great drive mapped out lol), and another guy with his gf in a blue s2k with modified exhaust, wheels, and lowered on melrose drive in carlsbad (we drove next to each other for a while lol). Saw a yellow one at vons in la costa and red at la costa i-5 exit.
