Newbie Needs Some Schooling.
Hey guys. S2Newbie Here with some questions for you all and looking for some suggestions. First of all, just a small introduction, I'm a young one, 19 and just finished first year at UC Berkeley, summer schooling now. Anywho, I've been driving my mom's hand-me down car: a 1994 Acura Vigor GS (I-5 Engine still pulls) and I just broke 192,000 miles on it and running smoothly. She got herself a nice Bimmer, but working as hard as she does, she definitely deserves it and she let's me drive it here and there on the weeknds
Driving experience wise, I started driving my parents around the day I got my permit when I was a little over 15, and within 4 years I turned my Acura from 128,000 to 192,000 and going still, it's my daily. No accidents and 1 ticket for California-stopping a stop sign 2 years back. I was promised a new car for college, but being close to home and dorming and these expensive university costs I decided to hold off. I now have an apartment with a gated parking garage and my own parking spot and waiting to fill it. My experience with manuals are the greatest, but my friend taught me on his 94' toyota celica and I drive my 2 friends' integra gsr and 03 g35 coupes around here and there. Within the last 2 months I've driven about 10-12 cars: Acura TL, Acura RSX-S, BMW 330i, Lexus IS250/350, Honda Civic Si, Subaru's STi, Mitsubishi's EVO-9, Nissan 350Z touring, Infiniti G35, Audi A4, VW's new GTi, and I finally got to drive an 06 Berlina Black S2000 yesterday at my local honda. All I have to say is: WOW! WHAT A Road-Responsive car! Alot of the other ones I drove, most of the family 4-doors (minus the EVO and STi) are so comfort-coated and made to get you from point A to point B. The S2000 however, I am pleased to say Honda Engineering Hasn't disappointed me. I love the car. The only thing I don't like about is the fact that it has a smaller trunk than the usual cars I drive and test drove. But then I think it over and in college, how much trunk space do I actually need? And if I really need that much I could go home and get the other car in 30mins or so. Other times I think that dropping $30,000 - $40,000 is ALOT of money on a first car and I was just going to pick up this 93 FD RX-7 I saw for around $18K but from the RX-7 forums, reliability is not something those cars are good at. I would like to take the S2000, but I was also wondering what is the deal for 07', is it cut off the line or coming back for another year? I searched but no clear answers yet. Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance for everyones help. Much Appreciated.

If you're willing to buy a used RX-7, why not a used S2000? For the same money you can get a newer used S2000 that will be a lot more reliable. Look at 2002 or 2003 S2000s and save the money for college. Also, take the tools and jack out of the trunk well, wrap them in a towel, and stick them in the spare tire. Now the trunk is deeper and roomier.
First of all take a beginner writing class. They teach you how to use paragraphs, they come in handy.
Honda reliability is amazing, not many people have had issues with this car, and if they do they are pretty minor. I'm in college also and haven't run into any problems with trunk space.
I wouldn't recommend an rx7 due to the reliability issues. You do not want to be stranded on your way to class with out a car.

I too, was concerned about trunk space. Not to worry my friend!!! You can fit what you need in the trunk as well as the front seat for a weekend away from things. My golf clubs fit nicely in my trunk, sitting on top of my Fosgate stereo set up.
There is nothing like an S2000....the best all around sports car you can buy. Its affordable, reliable, quick enough, handles very well, looks great, and gets compliments every where. Go for it!!! My 2001 as 93,900 on it and I plan on hitting 200K!!!
I am just a little loder than you and am in a very similar situation as you. When I bought my 2005 berlina black s2000, i had similar concerns with the trunk space, but i realized that to get your stuff from a to be there is more than enough space. Also if you need to move a bunch of stuff thats whaty friends are for. Usually they appreciate and are more willing to help if you spring for lunch or something. On a side note, i have found that i save a lot of money on gas since i got the s2000 as well. Not because i dont drive it much, but due to the fact that i cant fit as many people in my car anymore. Sometimes less space can be a blessing in disguise. When I had my 2004 Acura RSX i drove everyplace because i had the most comfortable car and we could fit 4 people nicely. Now i dont usually drive places. I would say go with the S2000 man, from the choices you listed above of cars you were looking at, of the ones i have driven i like the s2000 best by far. Dont get me wrong i love driving my buddy's evo mr and my other buddy's sti, but both are nowhere near as fun to drive. I have fun whenever i drive my car, something you have to seek after in the case with a lot of other cars. Good luck with your decision. I guarantee you will be happy with a s2000 though.
