Default Not an s2k owner yet!

Hey everyone, not quite an s2k owner yet, but sure a lurker!

I just had my 95 sc300 totaled out =/ Bad tires+rain = no good.

Looking to purchase an s2000 within the next month or so. Just looking for the right one. You would think NYC would have a lot of available color packages, but all I found are 90% silver!

Anyway, great forums. Hope they are as helpful as they Lexus forums I frequent.

Cya!

Welcome...good luck with your search, hope you weren't injured in the totalling of the SC300. There is a great forum here for Metro New York owners and they certainly would be a great group to reach out to for help. If you find a car in the Philly area that you like and need someone to check it out, let me know via Personal Message.

WOW!!!! 3O SOMETHING MILES FOR UNDER 11 GRAND!!!

here in california the s2k's are all around the 100,000 miles range and around 10k-15k- the 10k ones tend to have problems like bad paint, crappy interior ect.

Its a good time to buy. Silver was the most common color for s2000s, ranging from 40% to 50% of the total production in most years, with black a distant second. Lots of great info and great people here, good luck with your search.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys!

Not sure of forum policy about posting other pics, but here's whats left of my SC.

Im sure the s2k will be an enjoyable car! I always wanted one since my SI & Gsr. Nows the chance so I'm going after one. I have about 8000 laying around to make a purchase. Either going to get a 4-5k loan from the bank and purchase from a private seller, or just put the 8k down and finish up payments on a stock one.

Thanks for all the links guys, ill check em out now! (and look around the forums)

EDIT: Holy cow! That s2k for 10k Is beautiful! Wow, im gonna call them up tomorrow! Thanks dude.

Ok guys, narrowed it down between three.

or..

or

The yellow is an 03 with 73k miles and asking 13k.

The black is an 04' with 59k miles asking 16k but willing to negotiate.

The white is an 03 with about 53k miles asking 13.5k and is open SLIGHTLY to negotiate.

I REALLY like the black better, but I hate the ap2 front lips so much. Thats one of the biggest turn offs. I Like the white also, i kinda hate but like the tan combo.. wierd, but then again its got lower mileage and I love the ap1 front lip. The yellow is the last of my fav's.. not much to say.

Tell me what you guys think. I know its personal pref, but your opinions on price, color combo, lip, etc appreciated!

Try driving them, at least the MY03 vs MY04 and see if you have a preference, as they will feel a bit different. All the other things are cosmetic and can be changed. For instance, you can put either an OEM lip or an aftermarket front bumper on the AP2, which will change the look a bit. You could also do an interior swap on the tan interior of the GPW, which will also give you a different look. But I would first start with a drive to see which you like best and then go from there. Last, the paint on these cars is notoriously soft and many berlina owners swear they will never own another due to swirls.
