Default Old car guy, new S2000 guy as of tomorrw

Hey,

Picking up a black 01 with 47k tomorrow. I have been dying to pick up a 2000 for about 10 years. I have gone through everything from Porsche 914s, Cayman, 911, Challenger SRT, VW GTI Turbo, etc. I am hoping the Honda is the grail car!

I live in Warner Robins, GA. Any other S2000 guys in the midstate?

2nd day impressions:

Quite a car! My car is 47k with new tires and no wrecks so I guess this is a lot like driving a brand new one. Honestly, it reminds me of a mixture of my 2010 Cayman and my 88 911 (with 3.6 993 motor). It is as comfortable (well almost) as my Cayman, with working ac, sane brakes, etc, but it has the raw noise and handling character of my 911. The comparison isn't exact, but the Honda has a wild feeling about it that the Cayman lacked. This isn't a slam on the Cayman, it was a fantastic car--but I did get rid of it in part because it was a bit boring. Again, I have driven it a total of 180 or so miles so it isn't like I am through with my first impressions, but I have to say, I am feeling pretty good about my decision to go with this car over a new Miata.

I has spent a while looking for a ND club but the local stealership was giving me an endless runaround. Ultimately, I am glad they did because I started considering getting a used Miata, and then I thought, what the hell! I have always really admired the S2000 but had sort of let it slip to the back of my mind. When I realized the S2000 was basically the same as the Club for $15,000 less, and without likely insane depreciation, I really started to look hard at them. So far, it looks like I made the right call! Hopefully the motor doesn't blow next week LOL.

Nice to hear the positive impressions. Especially compared to some great cars! I hope you live near some mountains. These cars are really a blast in the twisty hilly terrain.

Nice one! I went through a few newer cars (including a Golf GTI like you) before settling on an S2000. I think if you keep it relatively stock it will appreciate too.

nice choice! just be sure to keep it topped up with premium full synthetic and you should be fine. they do tend to drink some oil.

i've driven hundreds of cars and the S2000 is still at the top of my list for pure driving enjoyment. have fun!
