The one-billionth S2000 owner!
Yes, I just bought an S2000 a few minutes ago... 2005 with 35k on the ticker, black on black. This is replacing my 2002 SC430 that I got rid of last month, and should be MUCH more satisfying to drive. Prob gonna add supercharger right off the bat, but we'll see. Hi everyone.
Congrats...
May I suggest you learn to handle the car without the SC first. It's a tricky little beast. I had a run in a friend's SCed car recently, and to be perfectly honest, it was frightening (320ish at the wheels)
This car is famous for catching people out.

Thanks for the welcomes, people!
Umar, I haven't really researched the S/C too much yet, but it looks like the popular ones are either Vortech or Comptech, right? I'll have to check into pricing, etc... I am not going to be racing the car, I just want to get some more bottom end out of it so looking for something low-maintenance with easy drivability. I have a feeling that either one would work just fine for me, so the price might make the difference for me.
foxy, I'm not going to be driving this car too hard, I just want there to be a little more usability in the power range. I just got rid of my SC430 and going from the 4.3L V8 to the 2.2L I4 is a drastic change. I figure that the supercharger will put things on a more even playing field. I had an S13 convertible with SR20DET in it before the Lexus, and a few AE86s that I drifted (until everyone started doing it, blegh) so I'm used to getting a little sideways -- although I have to admit that the S2000 is more like a go-kart than any other car that I have owned.
Tomorrow the S goes in for a 4-wheel alignment which should improve the twitches a little... I'm pretty sure that the car isn't supposed to step 5' to the left when you are driving straight over a bump, haha. Or maybe that is Honda's survival of the fittest?
Haha... I just realized that was a pun if we were talking about the Honda Fit. Derrrrr.....

A supercharger won't really give you that extra 'usability' you desire. The nice thing about superchargers is that they don't change the characteristics of the engine, it will still be quite mild at low rpm, but when vtec kicks in, it will throw you back in the seat and become a mother of violence requiring a delicate hand.
I think a turbo would be a better option for what you want. A nice small one that spools up quickly.
You say now that you won't wring the piss out of it, but you will, believe me.

foxy, that is interesting... I guess I should find someone here in Portland with a supercharged S2000 and drive it before I plunk down the cash. I'm gonna stay away from turbocharging it, though. I've done that a few times, and although it is fun as hell, I want this car to be a little more civilized. You say that it will still be mild at low RPMs, but it will be a little less mild than it is now... and since superchargers are most efficient at lower RPMs it should flatten out the torque curve. If it magnifies the top end, well I'm OK with that, too!
I've never owned a supercharged car, but I have installed a few and driven them... one on a Honda motor (99 GS-R w/ Jackson Racing), and I really liked the way that they felt.

Thanks jonner!

What supercharger are you looking into?
