Default Possible New Owner! Help! Decode this carfax!

Hello all, I might be buying an S2k!

Just wanted to see if any of you guys can help me decrypt this Carfax...

It says it was purchased in 01 and used for 2 years 3 months... and again in 2009 for 3 years 10 months..

What the hell happened from 2003-09? Dealer vehicle? Sold at auction? What does this mean to me?

I am going tomorrow to check it out but don't want the guy trying to lie or hide something... and for whatever reason is priced 8k below KBB

http://www.carfax.com/VehicleHistory...#DetailSection

Any help would be appreciated!

Welcome! Wow, if I had to guess, I'd say the first owner put it in a barn or something and forgot about it for five years. Could've been due to military deployment or even death. Best of luck with your search!

I called earlier and the guy said that a dealer had it as his own personal use e thought? Idk I gotta swing by later tonight and so some serious investigating. There is another 2000 nearby and I saw that and it was sharp, but idk if buying from a dealer is safer

I'd stay away if I wear you. For me, "Personal use" translates into: "I'm going to drive the crap out of it, but I don't have to care for it because it's not my car anyway, it's like a rental."

I'm shopping for an AP2 too, and if I came across an ad like that, I would stay away.

$8k below KBB? there is a reason for that. You need to find out what it is.

I missed the part where it says "8k below KBB". I want a good deal as much as the next person, but I also know what these cars are worth in today's market.

There's a difference between getting a deal, and getting one that's seemingly too good to be truth, only to have it bite you in the ass later on.

The car was owned by Carriage Traders (auto dealership????) from 8/29/2003 through 6/15/2009, during which it was driven at most 5000 miles. Then it was sold at an auto auction, but that doesnt tell you if it was a salvage auction or some sort of classic (modern classic???) car auction. Less than 1000 miles a year to me says a dealership bought it as an investment car. I would make sure the wear on the seats/carpets seems to match the declared mileage, they should basically be mint with those miles. Otherwise, call Carriage Traders and see if they have records, there is a phone number for them right on the car fax report.
