Default Potential 06 S2000 Owner

I have been thinking about getting an S2000 ever since I sold my Silverstone 03 NSX. I was on the special lease for $799/month. I was currently driving an IS300 which I still am. After a little over a year of leasing the NSX I got out of the lease by selling the car to a private party. I had only done about 8k miles in about 15 months.. I never had the time to drive it even though it was one awesome car. The only issues I had with the car was the lack of power when compared to the $88k price tag of the car, rear end broke loose too easily, and finally, the shifter/gearbox did not have a good feel to it. Everything else of the car was perfect.

I have test driven an 03 and 06 S2K before. I LOVED the shift feel, especially when compared to my previous NSX, and overall I liked the feel and cornering abilities, most of all, I loved the beautiful note of the engine screaming while entering VTEC. I love Hondas and I have owned a 95 Prelude SE, 03 Acura TL Type S, and now a 06 TL, and I am really looking into a new S2000 (However, looking in the gallery at the wrecked S2k's kind of pushed me away )

Ok, I am looking into getting into the Lease promo, I have heard that there will be no more S2000's produced and this is the end of this model. Regular price is $299/month plus tax and about $3800 for total drive off. The lowest price I was offered with the same drive off of $3800 was $285/month plus tax? Anyone here think I can get any lower?

Then comes the color choices! Wow, so hard since the car looks good in about every color. I was able to narrow down my choices to the Laguna Blue, and GPW, but after seeing so many nice Red, Silverstone, Sebring Silver, and Black ones, it is VERY hard to decide the color.

Then comes the issue of my size.. I am 6' tall and weigh about 195 lbs. When I drove the car with the top down, it was pretty nice, but still felt pretty constrained, and with the top up, it was pretty tight all around? Will I get used to this or will it feel even worse as time goes on?

I really appreciate any and all help that you can offer... Looking forward to your replies..

I feel the same way about the confining nature of the car- it feels small inside compared with my Boxster. I went ahead and leased it anyway. I am sure you will get used to the size over time if you like the car otherwise. I was hesitant about the loose rear end too but the VSA should help alleviate that problem. You can probably do a little better than your offer. My total deal was $13,068 for 3 yrs(363/mth with nothing other than the first payment at signing). Color is personal- I went with Silverstone.

Here is a new thread going on in the S2000 talk section. May give you an idea of how comfortable the S2000 is for us tall people --> https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=394403

I'm 6'3" and find that I fit very well in the S. Wouldn't mind sitting lower and having more leg/head room, but you do get used to it. The seating position is such that yes it may not be the most comfortable but it puts you in the best possible position for driving and that is what this car is all about.

Suggest you try a few local dealers and work them against each other, with VERY good credit you can get a little better than the advertised deal (well I did anyway). There's a bunch of posts about why you shouldn't put cash into a lease, take a look at those.

Regarding the car, initial impressions are good. I love the gearchange and I like the feeling of the rear end wanting to switch places with the front all the time (!)

Fwiw, the 07 GPW is rumored to have a red&black interior next year - might want to wait for that.

^ Don't wait. You'll look back and be sad that you waited longer than you had to to own one of these babies. Trust me.

I am 6ft 2in tall and weigh 195lbs, not a problem with comfort here as for the leasing part of it....try to lease the vehicle as close to $31,500 or so as possible, and find out the residual (buyback @ end of lease), and especially the $ factor (interest rate charge for term of the lease). I would say an educated guess with 1st payment, security deposit, bank fee, and tax due @ signing you should be around $360 a month @ 39 months at least
