Default Prospective S2K Owner

Hi everyone. I've been snooping around the site for about a week or two now. I'm looking to buy an early ('00-'02) S2000 with less than 70k miles. I am trying to sell/trade my 2005 Nissan Titan SE CrewCab with 27,000 miles on it for a lower payment. I would like to get one for less then $15,000. Is that doable? I've had a hard time finding one in my area Auburn, AL. I am also in the northern georgia area (Gwinnett/Buford) a good bit because of family. My friends say I'm being a little too picky because I'm looking for such a specific S2000. The only colors I'm not interested in is light blue and red (interior or exterior). Can you guys give a few pointers on locating one and things to make sure of before buying? Thanks in advance for your time!

Welcome to the site.

It is possible to find an S2000 for around $15,000, however with your specific criteria (red or blue less than 70000 miles) it may take a little longer to find it. I looked for a white S2000 for three to four months (in my local area only) and got inpatient and went for my second choice. The very next week there were 3 white S2000's in the paper . Good luck with your search and make sure you get what you want. BTW - I don't regret my second choice at all.

Thanks for your insight! Red and blue are the only colors I'm not looking for. It is kind of a deal for me to get kind of what I'm looking for this time around. Which is bad because this car purchase has the tightest budget. My first car was a 2003 Honda Accord 4cyl. The whole time I had it I was happy except that I wish I would have held out for the V6. The next was my titan. I love it but I wish it was black or grey (and less expensive!).

I did a kbb search on an 00' S2000 with 65,000 and came up with a private party price of $14,570. So hopefully I can find one for that or a little cheaper. My wife and I are about to try something a little tuff for us. She is going to stay home and I am going to be the bread winner. I'm 24 and she is 23. We want to have kids in a couple of years. That is why I'm looking for a car that will be a good bit cheaper than the Titan and a lot more fun to drive! I doesn't have to be too practical because she has a four door sedan so we take her car for trips now. Its a 4cyl. So I need something just to get to work and back. Oh yeah, and to put a smile on my face while doing it!

I've heard a few different members say to expect to pay less for an S2000 in the winter. How much less for the same vehicle are we talking about? I know it wont be an exact number, but just to get an idea. Thanks!

Yes, winter can be better. I think your pricing is very reasonable, whip. You should be able to get an 01 with around that mileage for that price.

Good luck!

Thanks guys, this is what I wanted to hear! A lot of the S2000s I've seen lately where overpriced in my opinion.
