I've been a member here since '07. When I originally joined, I drove a turbo Miata (hence the SN) but had a lot of S2000 friends. Bought an '05 BB some years later and it was one of my most favorite cars to own. Life sort of pulled me away from cars and racing but recently, I began keeping tabs on a number of vehicles waiting for one that spoke to me. After 6 months, a 2002 Suzuka Blue w/ hard top and 27k miles popped up just an hour from home. After checking it out in person and working the deal, I've got everything lined up and I'm just waiting for the paperwork to sign so I can go pick up. I don't have any immediate plans for modifying as I intend to keep it stock or nearly stock. This will be the 3rd roadster in the stable ('18 Miata RF and '06 NC Miata) so the NC is getting the boot. Anyway, glad to be rejoining the fold and getting to enjoy one of my favorite cars again.
Thank you! Navigating the collector's car insurance world since my normal auto insurance provider will not acknowledge an agreed cash value which is only about 50% of the actual market value. Interesting stuff. Looks like we'll be able to go pick her up on Monday. Looking forward to spending a day doing a deep detail to see how close to showroom clean I can get it.
Looks pretty close to showroom fresh already! Well done! Great acquisition. Like you, I'm on my second S2000 now. My first was a special order back in '01. Much like you, competing priorities forced a sale. I still regret it but am all the better for it today because of a sound financial decision back then! I picked up a MY00 in Silverstone with about 56K on it and am doing my best to get it looking as close to new as possible, while reminding myself that the cars are indeed, 20 years old in my case! Where has the time gone?!
My '05 had a convertible top rip in "the" spot that shall remain nameless. I decided to change the top myself (terrible decision). As my wife and I were leaving to go on a short road trip, it rained hard and water got in the trunk meaning I did something wrong. I couldn't bear the thought of redoing the top so I called my work and told them to hold the 370Z they had on the used lot and that I would buy it when I got back in town. Traded in the S and hated myself for it in the not-so-distant future. Wish I had just redone it and kept the car. Ultimately though, this color combo with factory hard top and less than 28k miles...it's one of my absolute favorites.

i’m a big believer that everything happens for a reason. In this case, you have found a car that likely exceeds your old one in every measurable way. About a year ago, I found my old S for sale on an online trading website. For nostalgia, I reached out to the seller who offered me a test drive even though I wasn’t serious about buying. The car had about 40k miles on it, had been modified and had changed hands no less than five times since I owned it. Even though I was sentimental about the car, I passed on it and in retrospect, am much happier with the one I have now.

Curiously, what do you have planned for yours?
Right now, I really don't have anything planned for it other than keeping it in 10/10 condition and to drive it when the mood strikes or the weather is nice....maybe the occasion trip up to NC to enjoy some mountain driving. A small part of my choice to buy this low mileage, well kept example is that it is a bit of an investment. It just so happens to be an investment that I can enjoy on occasion. The temptation to modify and autox/HPDE like I did with pretty much every other car I've owned is there but if that were my ultimate goal, I would have felt better buying a higher mileage vehicle if my plan was to wrench/beat on it. With low mileage, stock S2000s becoming more rare, I feel almost like it's my duty to keep it that way.
That's great that you were able to drive a vehicle that you owned before. I'd kill to know where some of my old cars ended up let alone drive them again. My first car, a 92 Honda del Sol will always have a little place in my soul...it was such a unique car (to me at that time). I learned a lot about cars from it during the time I owned it. I wish my parents had let me do the B16a2 swap I had saved up for (3 years!) instead of buying me a car for graduation...as privileged as that sounds, I missed out on a lot of experience. 20 years later...no telling where that car ended up.
I'm always saddened when a car I own is sold to an out-of-town buyer. At least with a local sale, there is always a slim chance that you might see the car wheeling around town. Actually, I'm surprised that after all these years, my original S2000 stayed local. Speaking of Del Sols, my neighbour has a 93, albeit with the SOHC and automatic which he is looking to sell. My first (new car) was a 90 Civic hatch, and I yearn to get into an older Civic again although in our locale, many of these are well rusted out from years of being daily driven in our climate. The neighbour's Sol would be a great stablemate for the S, however it's hard to convince my other half why I'm resigning myself to collecting "old" Hondas after all these years!
Like you, I plan on keeping the S in pristine shape. I have already have ordered some OEM parts from MITA, just to freshen it up. The original owner was an older chap who looked after the car, but drove it as it was intended. It needed a paint correction, and touch ups of the driver side seat bolster. I have it going in for paint protection film on the front end this week, and that should round out all of my tasks for this driving season!!
