S2000 In The House, Now with Pics
Drove the S2000 home yesterday. Just shy of 450 miles. I drove it like an old lady at first until I got use to it then on a few stretches of I70 through Ohio I was playing with an Accord Coupe and a Neon. We hit 110-115 a few times. This thing wanted to keep going. I'm amazed at the handling of this car and it's sitting on winter tires.
The winter tires saved my butt as I hit a HUGE storm in western PA/WV that brought traffic to 25mph. Could barely see the road but those tires never lost traction. These cars are known for being terrible in the rain.
At a few rest stops I floored it pulling onto the PA turnpike. That thing will shoot up to 100 in what feels like nothing, but the best part of it is when you get the RPM's over 5K the engine and exhaust notes sound incredible. I've never been a fan of 4 cylinder exhaust's but damn this little 2.0L sounds good.
Also averaged 30mpg. Not to shabby. I just set the cruise control for 75 90% of the drive home and was shocked at how well it did on the highway.
Over lunch today i'm going to swap out the winter tires/rims for the summer tires/new rims I have and go for a nice drive.
The car is in MUCH better shape than I thought it was going to be in as the owner made it sound like it was really beat up. It will not win any shows but there is not a dent or scratch on it except for under the bumpers. The rims are beat up but i'll be selling those with the winter tires asap.
For $7000, can't go wrong. The kid paid $15K just over a year ago for this with 95K miles, it now has 106K but the warranty lasts until 130K. I just have to pay $50 to transfer the warranty to my name. He is a poor college student heading to grad school so he had to sell it.

Will do Jay.
Thanks again for the rims. I washed/degreased/polished them a little and they look amazing. Hopefully I can find hte wheel key in the trunk so I can put the new rims on today.

It keeps getting better. I was looking through the paperwork the guy gave me with the car and turns out the clutch/throwout bearing/flywheel were replaced about 8K miles ago. Sweeeet.
I put the summer tires/rims on I bought from Jay during my lunch break (Love working from home
) and took it for a little spin. Wow, what a difference. I have not pushed it that hard yet as i'm still learning where hte limits are but I have endless miles and miles of back country roads with sharp turns to play with.
