Default S2k Will Live Outside - Soft Top Issues?

Hi All,

I might be getting an S2k within a week depending on the deal that I get. I was just wondering how the soft top holds up from being outside. Ideally, I'd like to garage it, but I currently live with a relative that already owns 5 vehicles and won't have space in the garage for mine.

Can the soft top withstand the outside weather for a long time? I live in Southern California, so for the most part, we get good weather. However, we've had alot of rain and winds lately.

Any input would be great. Also, what extra care (if any) would i have to put into an s2k that lives outside as opposed to a garaged one?

Thanks!

you should be okay with the CA weather. just be careful of people slashing the top. i also remember reading about how bird poop isnt good for the top either.

do a search you should be able to dig up more information.

should be alright, but like stooken said watch out for the top getting slashed. You might look into getting a set of the seat locks so that if somone does slash your top to take your seats, you will sill have them. It should be alright though in terms of weather concerns though.

The top will hold up fine as long as you take care of it. That includes washing it and dressing it with protectant every now and then. People here use everything from 303 Vinyl protectant to Armorall tire shine.

Anyone know if the OE car cover is water proof? Is it advisable to use it outside?

The OE car cover is not waterproof and it is not advisable to use it outside. It will not last.

If you already have it, just get another weatherproof cover for the S2000 (I have a weathershield) and use it over the OEM car cover.
