Post Searching for an S2000

Howdy all!

Joining up here as I'm on the search for an S2000 right now.

Some history: I'm not new to sporty vehicles (had a Crossfire, 300ZX, 07 CBR600RR, Ninja 600R and the list goes on....). Just sold the bikes and selling a 04 Passat Wagon (get at me if you're interested for one ) Now getting ready to buy an S2000.

I was referred here by my friend K1ngFunk. Hopefully he can vouch for me being a decent gent.

The search for 'my' S2000: I am looking for:
  • 2002 or Newer
  • Less than 60,000 miles
  • Preferably black interior
  • Preferably not silver exterior
  • Clean title
  • Under $16,500 preferably

I am willing to travel up to 1,500 miles from Chicago area to find one. Maybe fly out, pick it up, and drive back; make it a road trip to break her in. I've already read up on a lot of the DIY threads and all the info threats on what to know what to search for. (Exceptionally helpful one: https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/775...#entry18385358 ).

Any input or recommendations will be massively appreciated.

So yeah, I'm looking forward to sticking around here

Thank you jonner

Looked at a few today.

Really digging this one: http://chicago.craigslist.org/nwc/cto/2933277288.html

Only gripe with that one is that it has the plastic window.

So I decided to splurge a little and went for a 2005 S2000 with 34,xxx miles. In silver. I went over my budget and I got silver but I don't regret it. What an amazing car! This one has coilovers with a 1.5" drop, Blox (?) intake, and headers. Already found the secret compartment.

On my project list:

Get another key and remote (this one is really shoddy).
Cut the wire to work the top without stopping completely.
New brakes.
The rest TBD.

Now enough of the teasing... here are some pictures:

Congrats, looks mint. I only wanted silver as it is most classic. I am not a fan of the big spoiler, but you got a really clean one with nice amount of miles. I got a silver 2002 with 55k. How much over the 16500 did you go?

The huge spoiler? I thought this was the OEM Honda spoiler. Add an extra thousand and you're close.

It is, It looks pristine. I need to find some kind of product to keep it that way.

That is SWEET! congrats! Do yourself a favor and buy painted plugs to fill those holes on the front end. My first purchase of about 20 in 4 weeks I've had mine. I'm not a fan of wings, but those wings looks classy, not ricy, enjoy

Unfortunately Illinois law mandates a front plate

I said big not huge. Earlier spoiler was more like a "lip". That is a large spoiler for a small car. It wasn't a knock, it makes the car look more "Japanese" and modern and less the classic roadster with that spoiler.
